In Stifle, the author Caleb Thornton has shared his reality. Being an author, he posts promotional photos of his books on his Instagram page. One day his work colleague saw his Instagram page and reported it to higher authorities. This made him lose his job.

Caleb has expressed his feelings and has mentioned how he wants to be himself. He doesn’t understand why other people do things that hurt others. The author has mentioned Mr. Perfect and his obsession with him. He has mentioned how he has accepted that he can’t attain the standard that Mr. Perfect set. The author has accepted himself the way he is.

This book has the raw emotions of the author. The cover photo of the book is nice and the title is short and suitable. It is a short read that one could finish in a single sitting. A book worth reading. Go for it.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“Hippie at Heart: What I Used To Be, I Still Am” written by the author Lynne Zotalis is an engaging memoir. Anne is the daughter of Jack and Edith. She was named Anne after her grandmother Lydia Anne. The initial few chapters are about Anne’s childhood life. Anne along with her husband Nick have raised their four kids well. They did everything in their power to make their children successful. Anne and Nick decided to have an extravagant fling for their thirtieth anniversary.

They went to Mexico for their thirtieth anniversary. From Nick’s autopsy report, Anne found out that there was salt water in his lungs and he died from drowning. Anne got the clearance to transport Nick’s body home. She faced the obstacle related to Nick’s death certificate. She was asked to approve of the death certificate mentioning that Nick died of a heart attack. After Nick passed away, Anne didn’t feel whole. She tried to stay strong for her children as she doesn’t want to give them a trauma of their mother’s suicide. Read this book to know how Nick and Anne’s bond grew stronger over their thirty years of married life. Reading about the hippie life was astonishing. Anne had connections to dealers in Arizona, California and Colorado. She along with Nick was able to buy kilos of pot cheaply. The hippie life and adventures that the author has shared in this book opened a new world to me.

Those who are fans of creative nonfiction should definitely get their hands on this book. I appreciate the writing style of the author. The cover photo is nice and the storyline is intriguing. The title of the book couldn’t have been better than this. It is a gripping read. This book took me on the rollercoaster ride full of different emotions.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Broken Harmone written by the author M. Marie Walker is the second book in the My House book series. Since the plot links to part 1 of the series, one couldn’t read this book as a standalone.

As we read in part one, Mike was separated from his wife Jakyra and after she insisted about returning to him, they united once again. Now, Mike has been cheated and that too in a way he wouldn’t ever imagine in his wildest dreams. Mike’s wife Jakyra cheated on him with his sister’s boyfriend Jason. She is carrying the child of another man and tells Mike that it’s his child. MyIesha is also angry that her boyfriend cheated on her.

Mike announced his divorce with Jakyra and left home to go to some bar. At the bar, he met a woman named Erin who felt like a guardian angel that night. Will the two of them meet again?

The plot of the story is written well by the author. Those who believe in second chances at love should read this book. The story is well paced and the characters are written nicely by the author. The deceit, second chance romance, lies, love, etc would keep the story interesting till the last page.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Do No Harm written by the author Tom B. Stone is an intriguing read. The main character of the story is Dr. Gideon Teague. During medical school, Dr. Teague had a month-long psychiatry rotation in a prison. This made him acquainted with several prison gangs.

Gideon was from a small rural community in Northwest Arkansas. As a seventeen-year-old when he got the first chance to escape, he got into the Marine Corps to start his career as a lance corporal. Because of his courage, Gideon was treated like a hero by his peers but Lieutenant Plundo restricted Gideon to all of the undesirable base duties and didn’t allow him on patrols. Gideon was nineteen years old when he joined the special forces. His audition for the Marine Special Operations Team was a three-phase training and vetting process. As a Marine Raider, Teague had been a part of many missions.

After being in the Marine Corps, Gideon chose the life of healing over the life of killing. During his three year medical program, he had restricted choices because of the PTSD. His trip to Honduras brought quite a change in his life. Elizabeth Rodriguez Conner from New York also reached Honduras. Read the story to know how Eliza and Gideon would be pulled into the criminal underworld.

Those who enjoy stories with action should definitely get their hands on this book. The story moves frequently between different years so that makes the reading pace slow. The characters are written well by the author. The title of the book is suitable with an attractive cover photo. I loved every bit of this book. Go for it without any second thoughts.

“Legacy: Wisdom of African Traditions and the Bible” written by the author Chris Morehouse is a unique read. This book is rich in African and Biblical wisdom. In this book, readers would discover African expressions of the golden rule and welcoming the stranger.

The author has mentioned how African proverbs do not represent a single tradition. They are diverse and rich just like the continent of Africa. Proverbs encapsulate insights that can sink deep into your soul. The author has shared the golden rule:
If you know what hurts yourself, you know what hurts others. —Malagasy (Madagascar)

This golden rule exists in beautiful variations across several African cultures. I learned this golden rule recently in my life.

The Following proverb tells us to tell God whatever we are seeking.
God spoke, “Ask me and I’ll give you.”—Swahili (Kenya & Tanzania)

The Commentary and Study Guide section is thought provoking. It will help us to study and explore more wisdom. The comparison between African and Christian teachings is done well. I am glad to read the book. The proverbs are full of wisdom.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
I love reading thrillers. This time, I got my hands on Jami Worthington’s book ‘The Playgroup’. It is a captivating story that hooked me from the first page itself. In Oak Valley, things aren’t exactly as they look. When Cleo moved to Oak Valley with her daughter Izzy, she was invited to Alex’s Playgroup. Cleo liked Alex and her daughter Izzy liked Alex’s daughter Ava’s boots. Like a mother, like a daughter.

Jenna Carver and Morgan Lambert are Alex’s best friends and members of the Playgroup. When Alex started opening up to Cleo, she shared secrets that could bring chaos to her life. Alex told Cleo about the difficulties she faced in conceiving her first child and how it could impact her husband Ethan’s ego. Will Cleo be a good secret keeper or will she betray Alex and use her secrets against her? Cleo already envied the life of Alex as she is rich, beautiful, and has a handsome and charismatic husband.

Those who enjoy stories of friendship, lies, betrayal, revenge, and jealousy should definitely read this one. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. The storyline is interesting. This story taught me to be careful about whom I share my secrets with. It opened my eyes to not share my deepest secrets with anyone. All the characters are written well by the author. Looking forward to reading more books by the author in the future.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Silenced written by the author Vivian Ireton is the first book in The PSV Series. The story features social worker Cassandra Welton and Detective Logan Trenton working together to find the killer. A body of a woman naked from the waist down was laying in the shadow of a tree. The perpetrator had painted a big clown smile around the victim’s gaping mouth. The woman on the ground in front of her had been a recipient of the HOPE Center’s services two weeks ago. She had been brought there after being beaten and raped.

Victoria Tanner was 28 years old and lived at 3182 S. Dearborn. When Cassie was trying to interview her, she found out that Vicky was mute. One day Vicky used the restroom by the Shakespeare Theater. When she came out, she saw a clown face in front of her. The attacker removed her pants and raped her. He ran away after that. One man saw Vicky needed help and he called 911. EMTs took her to Hope Center where she met Cassie. Read this story to find out what Cassie and detective Logan would find out.

The story is gripping. The book is well paced and there were no dull moments in it. The title of the book is suitable and the cover photo is designed very well. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Great work done by the author in this book.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“Midnight on Fireworks Island” written by the author Christopher N. Ciko is an intriguing read. It is a gripping story of two mischievous boys Joey and Figueroa sent to Rockweiler Academy for boys. Rockweiler is a correctional institute for kids too young to be in the main prison system.

Joey has heard reports of the school’s mysterious Headmaster’s ability to read people’s minds and giving severe punishments. When Joey’s parents dropped him at the school, his dad gave an advice to him “Don’t let anyone pick on you or talk down to you son”

At Rockweiler, Joey observed that most boys had tattoos and facial hair. They looked like bullies. Joey was just a boy who listened to the wrong voice. Will he be able to survive amongst thugs and beasts? Will Joey make it to the Fireworks Island?

I appreciate the humor in this book. The character’s development is done well by the author. Those who enjoy hilarious stories should definitely get their hands on this book. It was interesting to read about the companionship of Joey and Figgy. Go ahead with this book without any second thoughts.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“Covered in Flour: 1968: A Young Boy’s Perspective on School, Family, and Changing Times” is an intriguing read. The story begins from the year 1968. Carl was in third grade. His teacher Miss Veezi welcomed all the students to third grade. Carl had a 3-ring notebook with him and he was ready to fill it with the homework assignment.

His teacher gave the students an interesting homework assignment to watch a TV series called Julia. The show stars a Negro woman as a nurse. Carl was named after his grandpa Carlos Pozzi on his dad’s side. His mother and father met during a dance practice. They married and started their family. Carl is the only brother to three sisters. His one brother passed away just after he was born and Carl never got to meet him.

This is a coming-of-age story. Throughout the book, we read about Carl’s growing up years and the constantly changing world.

Through this book, the readers would get to know about the complexity of growing up in a rapidly changing America. Even though this is the debut work of the author, the writing style is amazing. I enjoyed reading this book.
