Their living-donor coordinator Kayla Newman was brought into the Miami ER with an opioid overdose and was declared brain-dead. Sarah couldn’t believe how this happened with Kayla.

The local police started investigating Kayla’s case as a possible homicide. Sarah’s nursing school friend Jackie told her about her son Wyatt. He needs a living kidney donor. Sarah considers Wyatt like her own son. She received a call from the Miami Police Department. Detective Lupe Campos told her that they are investigating Kayla’s case as a possible murder.

Pengu & The Fox written by the author Nicola Elise O’Shea-Korbut is a Children’s Book that parents should definitely add to their children’s bookshelf.

The story is about a penguin and a fox who have been alone and in pain. Pengu was mistreated by the old friends. She shared about her insecurities and fears with the fox. I appreciate the Pengu’s courage in leaving home and going far away. Leaving our comfort zone isn’t easy but the outside world is full of opportunities and friendships waiting for us.

I had a great time reading this book. This book teaches us to be brave, give comfort to others, to let go of our fears, be a good friend, etc. The author has used lucid language in this book. Kids can follow the story easily. Looking forward to reading more books by the author.

Interview with author Sukriti Jaswal

Q1.  Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

Hi Guys! So, I’m a happy-go-lucky kind of person. That is the best way to describe me. I am your typical MBA grad who has started writing books. I did my MBA from a premier B school and now I am working with an MNC. Writing is something that I have always enjoyed. I used to write as a school kid and I have penned down a lot of stories since then purely out of fun. “Beauty and the Vampires – One Girl Holds the Future of the Blood Empire” is my first full-fledged novel. It is an attempt to write a “Vampire Saga.” This is the first book in the Saga and I am currently writing its sequel.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing your book “Beauty and the Vampires”?

The key challenge was completing it on time! I started writing it before joining my B school. So, I had got admission into this premier MBA college and I was very excited. I also had a couple of months left before joining. During that free time, I started writing this book. My aim was to finish it before starting college which I did.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

I would say I have my own style of writing but I read a lot of fantasy/romance. I believe whatever you read; you end up writing about it. So, I have read the Twilight books, watched The Vampire Diaries and even read a couple of vampire books on Wattpad. All of these inspired me to write fantasy genre with my own storyline.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

I am a spiritual person at heart so I’d say Vrindavan is my “go-to” place. I love Vrindavan’s spiritual energy and it is one place that gives me power. Apart from this, my favourite destination is Srinagar. I have stayed there for 3 years as a school kid and I loved it to the core. The place is exceptionally beautiful.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you dive in and start writing a book?

Not at all! Writing comes naturally to me. I can just sit and start writing anything on paper. Only if it is non-fiction, I think I would require time to research the topic but with fiction, I am completely spontaneous.

Q6. How long did it take you to write your book ‘Beauty and the Vampires’?

3 months. I was absolutely free for those 3 months and originally this book was published on Wattpad which is a platform for readers to read any book for free. I got a lot of positive reviews from both Indian and international audiences so that’s why I decided to get it published on Amazon next. I had to remove it from Wattpad.

Q7. On what platforms can readers buy your books?

So right now, my book is only available on Amazon (Indian and international marketplaces). It is available in eBook format and I’ll be focusing on its paperback version next. The bonus is that right now, the eBook is available for just Rs 49 for a limited period of time. So, this is a good time to grab your copy at the cheapest price!

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Beauty and the Vampires’?

I specifically got the cover designed. I had changed 2 book covers before this. I was very particular about it as a cover is the first thing that a reader gets attracted to. I wanted my 3 protagonists to be on the book cover so that the readers can get an idea of who the characters are and what do they look like. That helps a reader in connecting with the story and he gets an idea of what to expect if he buys it. The title is inspired by a kids’ fairy tale called “Beauty and the Beast.” My story has a beauty, a girl, who is an important character and she is surrounded by blood-sucking, menacing monsters called Vampires who are nothing less than beasts. It is an interesting tale that tries to explore the relationships of everyone involved in a setting where suddenly, humans are not at the top of the food chain, Vampires are!

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I try to put myself in my target audience’s shoes which I feel is not very difficult to do as my target readers are females who love romance and fantasy just like me. I have a couple of ideas in my head and I try to create something new every time. I try to explore different settings, different kinds of relationships and try to bring something new to the table every time. It is fun doing it.

Q10. What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given about writing?

The most valuable advice was “to write for the reader.” I think readers are kings and one should write keeping that in mind. For me, my readers are very, very important. There’s nothing that gives me more satisfaction than the fact that the readers liked my book.

The Microcosm written by the author Michael J Power is the first installment in “The Journey of Sire Magnis” book series.

The main character of the story is an honor student Sire Magnis who is 17-years old. Sire encounters a homeless young woman named Maria. Maria was a barren woman. So, she was asked to serve for the local prostitution ring, “House of Pleasure”. 38 years later, she was thrown out with the reason that she is old and not attractive anymore for the customers.

The city of Tarmith was attacked by the Eaters. Sire met a young woman named Niddah Lionheart. He fell in love with her. He wanted to mate with Niddah. But the Council of Eugenics will take that decision. Maria’s situation made Sire feel that the council doesn’t know what’s best for its people. Read this story to know more about Sire’s journey and what truths he will uncover.

The story is interesting. I appreciate the vivid imagination of the author in creating this fantasy world. The characters are written well. The storyline is unique and interesting. I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. I am looking forward to reading book 2 in the series.

Interview with Rick Quinn

Q1. Hello Sir, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

I was born in Queens Village, NY. Educated in Catholic Schools on Long Island and absorbed all I could from the energy of New York City. I am the oldest of 7 and the father of 4 grown children. My mother read illustrated stories to me and I did the same with my Children. This is my first published work. I have also written poetry and short stories.

Q2.  Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Jazzy and Kettle’?

Well, two separate and distinct processes: The title came first. I wanted, from the beginning, to write a story about 2 kids. I had been to bookstore and library Children’s Sections, and all I could see were books starring animals, with kids mixed in. There was nothing about kids having fun with kids. I wanted to create a story that made kids the stars, having fun with each other, and no parental interference.
I also wanted a book to serve as a reading primer. If kids are eager to look at the book themselves, read it over and over, they will eventually figure out the sounds the letters make.  I constructed the book so that the text is on the left and the illustrations are on the right. That allows a child, after hearing the story first, to begin glancing back and forth and see the words explain the pictures.
So, I picked the names Jazzy and Kettle to be unique nicknames, which many little kids have. They are also two syllable names, not complicated. The first two text pages of the book are only one word each: ‘Jazzy’ (with picture) and ‘Kettle’ (also pic).  So, they are introduced to the readers immediately, with one word each. Easy first reading lesson!
I had always planned to pick the cover from Sefira’s illustrations. The one I picked is also the climax of the story. It is magnificently captured, extremely colorful and full of positive energy! It is eye catching!

Q3. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

When I sit down, if I have started something, I will re-read what I have done and see if I would think it good work if done by someone else. If not? I do it over..

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

Well, I was born and raised in New York, and that was always a favorite jaunt. I love going to Maine because of the traquility. I also love the southern cities of Charleston and Savannah. The people are wonderful there, the cities are civil, energetic and have a small town feel, although they still are cities.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

No, get a pad and paper and begin to scribble ideas. It is very much a self-motivated and cathartic process.

Q6. How long did it take you to write this book?

Hard to say… Often I carry things around in my head, switch ideas around without sitting at a desk. Sometimes I will jot a word or two of an idea on a post it and get to it later.
I think my first version took about a month. Then it took me awhile to find the illustrator I wanted. Sefira was referred to me a friend, who knew her mother. I scrolled through work on her social media page and came across a picture of a mother and child. BINGO! Exactly the softness I wanted.
As we talked about the process and she read the story, she commented that it needed more pics. I had thought 8 originally. She was correct. So when she was finished, I went back and re-wrote the text to make sure I could keep my original construct of one page of text per illustration.

Q7. What does success means to you?

To a degree, it means having produced something unique that is now available to the public.  However, getting it in front of eyes is now a task. I do want to see sales growth as a sort of verification.

Q8. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘Jazzy and Kettle’ book?

Like any author, I think, I need blocks of uninterrupted time. Usually, I do my best work at night. I challenge myself to be good. Sometimes I will spend an hour plus, looking for the right word.

Q9. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Well, growing up in and near NYC, there was a cornucopia of writing talent in the newspapers. That was where I first discovered great writing. One just passed away, Pete Hamill. Politics and sports and even entertainment had star writers: Murray Kempton, William Safire, Red Smith, Jimmy Cannon. In terms of illustrating writers.. obviously Charles Schultz is an immortal and Gary Trudeau was excellent. Novelists? Joyce is the best. He was stunning. Love Phillip Roth and Hemingway.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

One aspect that hasn’t gotten much mention is that the children’s racial appearances switch back and forth in the story. It doesn’t play into the story, but it represents to me how kids see each other: As Kids! Nothing else.  I didn’t want a patronizing, condescending, preachy book. Kids don’t need that. They know how to get along.
No secrets per se. I hope to have their story continue and introduce other cultural indentities, such as headscarves or yarmulkes, just as another unspoken comment about how we are all the same.

Jazzy And Kettle

Interview With Author Deborah Stone.

1. Please introduce yourself so that the readers will get to know you better.

I read English Literature at Durham University. I live in North London in the UK with my husband, two sons and my gorgeous dog, George. I work as a strategic consultant, specialising in advising companies on developing the best products and services for older people. I am an author of two books, ‘The Essential Family Guide to Caring for Older People’, which helps families caring for older relatives with important information and advice and ‘What’s Left Unsaid’, a novel about a family who hide a number of secrets.

2. When did you decide to start writing books?

I have always wanted to write, but only started about four years ago.

3. What do you hope your readers take away from your book “The Essential Family Guide To Caring for Older People”?

I want people to feel supported as they age and as their relatives age. It comes to all of us, but with forward planning, older age can be far more manageable. I want people to understand that everyone struggles as a carer and that it is a tough job. They are not alone.

No one wants to think about getting older. At any age, when things are moving along normally day to day and everyone seems fit and well, there seems no reason to think about future problems that your friends and relatives might (and probably will) come across as they age. In fact, it might even seem a little morbid to think such thoughts, or possibly even tempting fate?

Yet there will come a time when you must raise these issues and, ideally, this should be before any problems arise. The Essential Family Guide to Caring for Older People is the ultimate source of information and help for families with care responsibilities.

4. What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I read a lot of books. I love to bake. I also go to the theatre and the cinema and I walk my dog every day.

5. How long did it take you to write your book?

My novel took around 2 years and the care book about a year.

6. What is your favorite Quote?

“Our greatest freedom is the freedom to choose our attitude.”
―
Victor Frankl, ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’

7. What are you working on next? Are you planning to release another book soon?

I am writing another novel, but it is not quite coming together yet!

8. Any favorite writers that inspired you to write?

So many that I find it hard to choose, but I love Anne Tyler, Maggie O’Farrell, Jane Austen, Vikram Seth, John Boyne, Sebastian Faulks, Charles Dickens to name a few…

9. How do you come up with the cover of your book “What’s Left Unsaid”?

I spent a long time searching for the right cover, but when I found the illustration, I knew it was then right one.

10. Lastly, do you want to give any advice to someone wanting to write and publish book?

Have the courage to write and do not give up. It is a tough thing to do and you need courage, but you can do it.

The Ghost of Kyle Sugarbaker

Book: The Ghost of Kyle Sugarbaker

Author: Brandon Clarke

Pages: 146

Format: Ebook

My Rating: 4.5/5

The Ghost of Kyle Sugarbaker is the Book 2 in Dark Mysteries of the Paranormal Saga. The story is set in Salem. The story has two different timelines. The present one in which Zane Gardener is the protagonist and the second timeline runs in the Spring of 1997 in which the protagonist was Kyle Sugarbaker.

Kyle Sugarbaker was the son of Paula and Henry Sugarbaker in 1997. He went to Salem High school and there he had a crush on a guy named Max Gardner. They both were gay and kinda liked each other. What was that unfortunate incident that Kyle lost his life? Who was responsible for it?

In the current timeline, Zane stays curious and keep on asking his father Max about Kyle Sugarbaker. The story is really interesting and the narration is clear. It is quite clear which timeline we are into currently.

I would recommend this book to all those who love to read books about ghost. I really enjoyed reading this book.

The brave and the wicked by Brandon Clarke

Book: The brave and the wicked

Author: Brandon Clarke

Pages: 296

Format: Ebook

My Rating: 4.5/5

The brave and the wicked is the first book by the author Brandon Clarke that I’ve read. This is Volume 1 in the “Dark mysteries of the paranormal Saga“. This is the story about a powerful and confident witch Jennifer(who was battling with cancer) and her daughter Jade. During her last days, Jennifer told her daughter about an ancient box that needs to be protected after her and she especially mentioned that don’t let it be in the hands of uncle Fred.

Jade Summers, the daughter of Jennifer has no parent now. Her boyfriend Grayson support her in her journey. Her uncle Fred was a very rich man but his intentions weren’t that good. He had a fight with Jennifer over an ancient box earlier. What is there in the ancient box? What was Fred’s intention’s behind getting this box.

This book is full of paranormal elements. The story got quite interesting when Jade got to know that she is a witch. The twists and turns in the story will keep you hooked. It is really an interesting story that kept me going till the end. The plot of the story is built nicely. I am gonna read the sequel of this now as I couldn’t wait at all.
