“Being human comes with its challenges. Having Faith comes with its rewards.”

“Love Letters to the Virgin Mary” penned by David Richards is a gripping read. The story features David who was certain about God’s existence from a young age. He thought to realize love in the eyes of a woman. David’s journey to seek this woman started. During a pandemic, he saw a woman’s post on Instagram and he felt as if he had seen the picture before.

In the summer of 2020, the narrator came to a realization of how he lost himself looking for that woman. He held himself responsible for broken relationships, failed marriages, infidelity, etc. Over the years, God started to become a myth. How would the narrator find his way back to God?

Those who enjoy reading books based on topics like war, faith, Christianity, soldier’s lives, etc should get their hands on this book. The cover photo is nice and the title is suitable. This book is for avid readers only. There are many lessons for the readers in this book. It was worth my time.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“A Brush with Death” penned by the author Jody Summers is a thriller set in New Orleans. The main character of the story is Kira. She’d been painting since age six. She is now working on her new business, Canvas of Life. She mixes her paints with cremains, the ashes of the dead.

Kira began her mother’s painting from her ashes. Soon, she started having nightmares. When Kira worked on her first painting for the real commission, she was nervous. One day, Kira received a call from a client named Sean Easton. Sean’s father passed away and Sean has his ashes. He saw Kira’s ad in the newspaper and wanted her to create something to remember his dad by. As Kira started working on figuring out what the subject of the painting was going to be, she realized that she was painting the portrait of a serial killer. Kira started having nightmares filled with blood and murder. What will happen when the evil in her painting wants to kill her?

This is a story with a unique plot. The story is well paced and I loved every bit of it. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed reading how Kira’s painting was creating evil. The writing style of the author is nice. Kira’s character is my favorite and this story will stay in my mind for a long time. I am looking forward to reading more books by the author.

Interview with author Michael Scarlett

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

A1. Every introvert’s worst nightmare, but now that we have that out the way…I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee where I spent most of my life. I am married with three wonderful kids. Our twin daughters have blessed us with seven grandchildren and now the pressure is on our recently married son. But seriously, we moved around some after the breakup of our church in’97, but that’s a story for another day and another book. We were in Florida for eight years and now happy to be back in Tennessee, residing in Hendersonville.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing your book “The Quiet Kid”?

A2. Balancing time between a full time job and family and still carving out the time to write.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

A3. There are so many. The first was probably Harper Lee ~ To Kill a Mockingbird. Kurt Vonnegut got me hooked and then came Cormac McCarthy ~ All the Pretty Horses. I love the way he handled dialogue.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

A4. Anna Maria Island. So many good times with family there. My wife and I took a road trip out to Bryce Canyon a couple of years back. I’m itching to get back out there to see more of the state and more of the Rocky Mountains.

Q5. What inspired you to write the book ‘The Quiet Kid’?

A5. Conversations with my son about my high school days, which stirred his curiosity. I became acutely aware of my lack of knowledge about my Dad’s early years, so I just started writing things down

Q6. How long did it take you to write your book ‘The Quiet Kid’?

A6. I wrote for almost thirteen years before concluding that I actually had two books going simultaneously. I spent another year or so breaking it apart before self publishing The Quiet Kid.

Q7. On what platforms can readers buy your books?

A7. Amazon

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘The Quiet Kid’?

A8. I wanted the cover to reflect the times, so I drew up a rough sketch of me flashing the peace sign out the window of the first car I owned and pitched it to a friend with the idea of some Peter Max style pop-art. Kudos to Brad Smith for the brilliant job! As for the title, it was how I was known, especially to those who didn’t know me well.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

A9. I always try to get inside the moment and draw the reader in with me. That’s the goal.

Q10. What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given about writing?

A10. “Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.”
Kurt Vonnegut

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“How Many Miracles is One Person Allowed?” penned by the author Kemala B. Tribe is a unique read. This book is a testimony that God’s promises are real and for us. The author has mentioned how she doesn’t trust herself to take care of herself. She has high faith in God and expects him to take care of her.

“Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us.”

I loved the chapter “Protection – Guardian Angels – Your own Secret Service”. From my own experiences, I have been protected by God many times. We can walk in Jesus’ immunity but in case the devil attacks we should know how to fight him off. The author has shared many testimonials. One testimony includes how her husband’s leg was grown out, he didn’t have any more back problems, etc.

This book has empowered my faith in God. There have been times when my faith was not strong but now I have understood that without God, healing is not possible. He sends angels in our life to help us. God’s love for us is unconditional. If we don’t receive something we want, it’s God’s protection.

Those who are having doubts in God’s miracles should get their hands on this book. I am sure after reading this book, your faith will level up. I am glad to read this book. I am grateful to the author for sharing her journey with us. I loved the statement by the author that “I don’t look for miracles, they just find me”. Go ahead with this book without any second thoughts.
