“Scarred for Life” is the first book that I have read written by the author Lee J.M. da Rocha. The series ‘Damned Nation of the West’ starts with this book. It is a captivating story that will keep the readers on the edge of the seat.
Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. Detective Gabriele Rossi has been in CIPD for years. The fateful night of reckoning is something he must not have imagined even in his wildest dreams. America was invaded by a beast and the death count was increasing. Those who have survived have to save their lives. Will they be successful in saving themselves and their loved ones?
I enjoyed reading this book. The storyline is interesting. The pace of the story is fast and I wasn’t bored anytime while reading it. The world building is nice and I appreciate the vivid imagination of the author in creating the world. Please be advised that the content may be unsettling to some so go ahead with this book if you are comfortable with the content. It’s worth my time.
Bina Pillai’s “Nuggets of Life” is an interesting book for light reading. This book has various short stories and anecdotes from the author’s life. The readers would be delighted to read these stories. One would totally be pulled into her world and cherish different events from Bina’s life.
Adventure in Magical Uttarakhand, Every Problem has a Solution, Travel Teaches us Life Skills are some of my favourite stories from the book. Bina’s stories have inspired me to fulfill my life with more experiences.
This is a must read book. It’s for light reading. I enjoyed these stories and am thankful to the author for sharing her experiences with all of us. The title of the book is something I loved a lot. If you aren’t into reading and want to give a try to short stories, then give a try to this book and you will fall in love with reading.
“Anger: Taming the Beast” penned by the author Reneau Peurifoy is a step-by-step program for managing anger calmly and effectively.
Many times in life, we would be upset or provoked by people. At such times, it’s important for us to not let our anger control us. My favorite chapters from the book are: ‘Resentment, Envy and Jealous’. I was wronged by someone in the past which caused resentment and anger. This book gave me wonderful tips to release resentment and not to have any envious or jealous feelings.
This book will help you a lot in taming your beast. Read this book slowly and reflect on what you read. It’s a well written and insightful read.
If you or your loved one have anger issues, get a copy of this practical guidebook. It has useful tips. I have written a few points from this book in my journal so I could practice handling things calmly even in frustrating situations. I loved the author’s idea to keep an anger journal. If you know of a person who is struggling with anger issues, we should be supportive and help that person in taming their anger. It’s engaging and a book worth reading. Go for it.
Crossing Lives penned by the author Elaine Nolan is the first book in “The Claire Ravenwood” book series.
Detective Garda Claire Ravenwood has written a book as a form of therapy but now she is facing disciplinary procedures from Human Resources of An Garda Siochána, the Irish Police Force. She was facing it because the book had been published and would become a film soon.
Jackson Logue, an American actor read the script of his role. He is doing this role to absolve his past. His good friend Alex knows that the recent trauma in Jackson’s life has cut him to his soul.
What will happen when Ravenwood sees Sava Radic? Read how Garda Inspector Garnes will help in dealing with human trafficking from his own experiences in dealing with child & sex trafficking.
This is a well written plot. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. Those who are interested in reading books involving human trafficking should get their hands on this one. It is a gripping story. Looking forward to reading the next book by the author.
Later is the first book that I have read penned by the author Colette R Harrell.
This story is set in the past and the present. The story features a twelve-year-old boy Junie and his twenty-year-old sister Sari. Junie, Sari and their father John have never been whipped. As a slave to the Benson Plantation, Junie has attended the public whippings. John and Junie want Sari to be free.
Pick a copy of this book and get to know about ex-Special forces Lt Colonel Zachary who fell in love with a green eyed Goddess. Who is this beauty?
This book is about God’s timing. It tells the readers that delay doesn’t mean you’ve been denied. This book gives hope and faith. It’s a well written book. The cover of the book is eye-catching. I enjoyed every bit of this story. The pace of the story is perfect and I wasn’t bored anytime while reading it. This story will stay in my mind for a long time.
“Our Miracle Baby: Dare to Believe” written by Lucia Williams is an interesting read. In this book, the author has discussed infertility, its causes, treatment, faith in God, etc.
The faith in God helped Lucia and her family to win the battle of her house. The author has given testimonies in this book that made her believe that God has answered her prayer. This book will strengthen your faith in God. Sometimes delay happens but that delay doesn’t mean denial. We should have trust in God and the right things will come to us at the right time.
This book will encourage all those who are waiting for the fruit of the womb or any other blessings from God. One piece of advice from this book that I loved the most is ‘wait for the right person instead of settling for less’. I realised how once I was so desperate for a blessing that I was agreeing to settle for anyone but God saved me from taking that decision. This is a wonderful, engaging read. You will be able to relate to a few things. It’s worth my time and I am glad to get my hands on this well written book.
There are very few books that have the power to capture the readers’ attention from the first page itself. ‘Paying with fish’ penned by the author Viv Booth is one such story.
Viv and her husband Mr C are English. They decided to buy a house in rural France. Read this book to know what all adventures they experienced during the house hunting experience in France. After meeting different estate agents and checking different houses, Viv and Mr C finally bought an apartment that was located in a little seaside village called Primel Tregastel. Find out by reading yourself whether their experience was smooth once they found the house.
It is a hilarious read. This book is a rollercoaster read. It will take you on the adventures of house hunting in a foreign land. This book took me down the memory lane and reminded me of days when I was hunting for an apartment in a foreign city. It is a well written book. I enjoyed every bit of this book. The author’s writing style is amazing. Go for it without any second thoughts.
Book: Letting God’s Word Speak: Lessons on Deepening Your Faith
Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.
I’m Tony Crouch, Christian by choice, accountant by trade. I’m currently serving Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas as the Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer, however I am fortunate to work from home and reside in Catoosa, Oklahoma. I have been married for 35 years to my lovely wife Vicki and we have four kids, nine grandkids, and five great grandkids. I grew up in Alva, Oklahoma where I was introduced to Jesus at First Christian Church. I was baptized at the age of 10 and have spent most of the rest of my life trying to learn God’s Word and His will, but only in the last few years have I learned to surrender myself to Him. He is the one in whom I place my full trust and confidence.
Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘Letting God’s Word Speak: Lessons on Deepening Your Faith’ book?
Actually, I didn’t know I was writing a book when I started. I set out to answer a calling the Holy Spirit and write a regular article on Facebook devoted to Christian thought. During my daily Bible study, I would note verses or parables that spurred ideas. I wrote about them as they came. Sometimes, the articles were timed close together, sometimes days apart. As the number of articles and readers grew, one of my good friends suggested it was a book I was writing. I dismissed the idea, but she wouldn’t stop insisting that was what was happening. To show her it was not, I sent the book to a Christian publishing company, and it turns out she was right. The hardest thing for me, once I was done and everything submitted to the publisher for editing was accepting the editor’s suggestions. She did an incredible job, but she took out many of my prepositional phrases. As it turns out, I really like prepositional phrases.
Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?
I specifically like the Book of John in the Holy Bible, but also James. I appreciate how they make understanding who Jesus is practical and relatable, but they also offer room for personal thought and exploration for deeper meanings. In secular writing, I appreciate Andrew Wommack and his straightforward, no sugar-coating style of teaching. Greg Mohr is another writer who is very good with relating scripture to life.
Q4. What’s your favorite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?
I don’t know that I have a favorite spot. I live in an incredibly diverse state – Oklahoma – where you can find national forests, sand dunes, flat plains, salt beds, caverns, mesas, lakes and hills. But I’ve also lived in Montana and Kansas. Montana is a beautiful state as well, especially from the Rockies and west. Forced to choose, I’d probably go back to my childhood and pick my granddad’s farm in early morning when the cattle are asking for breakfast and the sun is peeking up over the cedar trees a few canyons away.
Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?
As noted above, I didn’t set out to write a book, so in my case, the real preparation was opening my heart to hear God’s voice.
Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘Letting God’s Word Speak: Lessons on Deepening Your Faith’ book?
The chapters are mostly from my Facebook writings, but several are unique to the book. The process was about a year from the first article until I send the final text to the publisher, and then about six more months through the editing and creative process.
Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘Letting God’s Word Speak: Lessons on Deepening Your Faith’ book to buy?
The book is available in print from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and as an e-book on Barnes & Noble. I see it on other online book retailers as well.
Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Letting God’s Word Speak: Lessons on Deepening Your Faith’?
The cover was created by the publisher. We talked through ideas, but the design was truly all theirs. The title morphed a bit as we finished up the editing. I didn’t have a name (because I didn’t’ set out to write a book). My friend who suggested the book had mentioned the phrase “when God speaks, listen” as she encouraged me. I feel God’s greatest attribute is His grace, so I had tentatively titled it “When God Speaks Grace”. As the editor finished her work, she suggested the book was really more about hearing God speak. As we talked back and forth, it became “Letting God’s Word Speak: Lessons on Deepening Your Faith”.
Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?
In my case, every chapter is its own story. There is some references back to previous thoughts or experiences, but as a rule, each chapter is fresh and stands on its own. Because I was inspired by scriptures throughout the Bible, the topics are many and varied. But, of course they all tie back to God working in our lives and how we should respond to that.
Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?
God is speaking to each of us through the Holy Spirit, but we have to be an active listener to hear. His voice may come to us in scripture (often for me), through song lyrics, through teachings, or maybe something someone randomly says (although God’s work is never random). If our minds are open and seeking, we will hear His voice and grow in relationship with Him as we respond.
“Meet Virginia” written by the author Sheila Fowler is the first installment in the Scottish Love Stories book series.
The main character of the story is Virginia. At the age of 13, she lost her parents. She was raised by her grandmother Ginny. 23 years after losing her parents, Virginia lost her grandma too. Now, she feels empty inside. When she took divorce from her husband Tony, she moved in with her grandma.
After her grandma’s death, Virginia came to know that her grandma had booked a trip to Scotland for Virginia and herself. Now, since she is not there, Virginia decided to take this trip herself. She wanted to get away from the States and from Tony. In Scotland, Virginia was set up with Cameron. He is a Scottish man who loves to talk about Scotland.
Read this story to know will Virginia return to Florida or will she stay in Scotland. This is an intriguing story. Sheila has the great capability to write sweet romantic stories. It would be amazing to see movies based on her books. I loved this book from the first page till the last.
