🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Magda, Standing written by the author Christine Fallert Kessides is a Teen & Young Adult Military Historical fiction novel. The story is set in the year 1916 at the time of World War 1.

The main character of the story is a sixteen-year-old Magdalena Augustin who lives in Pittsburgh. Magda had dreams of going to college but because of her mother’s ill-health, he asked her to drop out of high school. Magda’s aunt Minnie and Tilly are an inspiration in her life. Both of them took certification courses at night and worked their way to teaching in public schools.

Magda would watch Richy, keep the house tidy, and prepare dinner so that her mother could rest. Her aunts would tutor her in the essential subjects so she can earn her diploma. The story became more interesting when she volunteered as an assistant nurse with the Red Cross.

The writing style of the author is fantastic. The language used in the book is lucid. The story is told from the third person pov. Magda’s determination towards education and that too in 1916 is something I really loved. Magda’s character is an inspiration. I am glad to get my hands on this well written book.
