There are very few books that have the power to capture the reader’s attention from the first page itself. “The Aleutian Voyage Hang On!” written by the author Lou Marich is one such book. The story is set in 1866. America began to recover from a Civil war, the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
President Johnson wants to increase his popularity for the upcoming elections. So, the United States was thinking of purchasing the territory of Alaska from the Russians. President Johnson set up a meeting with Field Director Jack Calsin for the Department of the Interior. He wanted Jack to lead an expedition to evaluate the territory of Alaska. Soon, Jack was on his way to the Arctic region.
He faced many challenges on the journey. Sometimes a storm comes up or the boilers explode. Read this story to know about the struggles of Calsin on this adventurous, dangerous journey.
The writing style of the author is nice. The story is fast paced and I wasn’t bored anytime while reading it. The character of Calsin is my favorite. The storyline is interesting and the narration is smooth. If you love reading stories that involve action, drama and suspense then go ahead with this one.
