“Becoming Olive W.: The Women of Campbell County” penned by the author S Lee Fisher is the first installment in the Family Saga series. Story is set in Pennsylvania in early 1900s. Main character of the story is Olive Westchester, a curly blonde-haired girl. After her mother Polly’s death, Henderson was left alone to raise his seven children some of whom have become parents. Henderson is a farmer without any parenting skills. Olive is the seventh child of her parents. Even though doctor advised her parents not to have their eighth child but Henderson was selfish enough and got his wife pregnant again. As a result, she died in labor.

As the story progresses, Olive’s eyes are set on the College education. But she was disappointed to know that her father Henderson don’t believe in female education. According to her father, his job is to prepare his daughter as an acceptable wife, to find her a respectable husband who can provide for her.

Grab a copy of this book and find out yourself what gonna happen next in the story. Cover photo is amazing. Story shows rural time with gender inequalities. Writing style of author is amazing. Even though this is the debut book in the series, author has done wonderful work and was able to hold my attention throughout the story. Looking forward to read more novels by the author.
