Objective Perspective inside the system is a book written by three authors Kareen Thompson, Colleen McCaulsky and Cynthia Eyeshemitan. This is the first book that I have read in Child and family Dis-Services series. In this book, authors has discussed about the problem of SAD (Sexual Violence, Addictions, and Domestic Violence) pandemic and its impact on children and families.

I learnt about the child welfare practices from past to present in this book. Many of the children in the Canadian child welfare systems are affected by historical trauma and their parents’ struggles with SAD. This book enlightens readers about the SAD pandemic that developed because of post-traumatic effects of colonization. Authors has also discussed how a child enter and prepare to exit the system. SAD pandemic needs to be addressed from its root for the better welfare of children.

This is an engaging book. Readers has few questions to reflect on after reading this book. Cover photo of the book looks nice. This book is a wake up call to readers to save the children. The book is written after well research and is an insightful read. I am looking forward to read more books of this child welfare series.
