Lainey Cash is the first book that I have read by the author Clare Cinnamon. It is the first book in the triology. The story starts with the introduction of Jed McCrae, a guy in his late twenties who loves owning land and watching things to grow. He also loves travel and women. Another character of importance is Cabot Harley, son of hometown banker and the most eligible bachelor of Mallard.
Delaina Cash is the daughter of Tory Cash, the largest landowner in Mallard. Jed and Delaina’s family were in rivalry and have hated each other for few decades. Tory Cash had his ancestor’s land and he want to keep it alive. Jed’s father James worked as a laborer at Tory’s land. When Tory was unable to make all of loans payment, James bought some acreage and after marriage he acquired more. Story became interesting when Delaine lost her father and she has to handle Cash Way. Everyone thinks that Delaine and Cabot Harley will marry soon but with her father dead, Delaine had to seek help from Jed again and again. Will they fall in love?
This is a well thought story. The plot is gripping. This story about the love of land and taking care of it was a unique read for me and I enjoyed every bit of this story. Narration is smooth and clear. Characters are well developed and introduced. I am looking forward to read second book in the series.
