Pretty Melanin Me is a Children’s Book written by the author Markita Richards and illustrated by Blueberry Illustrations. The protagonist of the story is a little girl Jade. Once Jade asked her mom why her skin is darker as compared to some other people.
The way Jade’s mom told her the reason and the blessings that Jade has with her skin color made her happy and confident. This book gives a strong message that the color of our skin doesn’t define us. Our actions, inner beauty and our hard work is what defines us.
It was a short and quick read. Illustrations are beautiful and eye catchy and the story is written well. This book teaches little kids the importance of self love and self acceptance. It is a wonderful book that kids should have in their bookshelf.
