Pursuing Gold is Book 1 of the Southern Gold book series. It is a historical fiction set in the year 1862 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Peter Chandler has big responsibilities on him. His father is no more and Peter has to manage the bank. He has to keep the funds of the people who believe in the bank secure. He can’t give any government bureaucrat an unsecured loan.
We see Peter in a difficult situation as he was threatened by the government bureaucrat of labeling him as a traitor. Peter’s father and Mr. Roper were business partners. After his father’s death, Peter has Mr. Roper to guide him. The safety of the bank is a concern for not only Peter but equally for Mr. Roper as well.
Mr. Roper was informed by his doctor that he will not recover. Mary Beth wants her father to have rest and not worry about the bank. But, Mr. Roper couldn’t keep himself away from the bank. The news of the war has reached the people of Chattanooga. As the war unsettles everything, both Peter and Mary Beth are concerned for their families and the bank. The plot is written well and my interest in this book series is at the peak. I just finished reading Book 1, my excitement is high to read Book 2. Peter has a heart for Mary Beth. Does she also love him? Will they marry? Find answers to these questions by picking a copy of this book. These books are suggested to be read as a series instead of reading them standalone.
