Book Review: Elephant by Natalie Rodriguez

Title: Elephant

Author: Natalie Rodriguez

Genre: YA Fiction

Format: Ebook

My Rating: 4.3/5

Elephant is a Young Adult Fiction written by the author Natalie Rodriguez. The story is about a woman Lucia Smith and her grandson Matthew Jimmy Smith. Matthew was also known as Matt or Matty. Matty was suffering from trauma which resulted in PTSD. There was so much void in his life and mind that needs to be filled by someone.

As I read the story further, I saw the impact of some tragic life incidents on Matty’s life as he ended up being admitted to a hospital.

The ending paragraph of the first book will make you shiver and will make you think how this could happen. Reading this book was a rollercoaster ride for me.

I really appreciate the storyline. If a movie could be made on this story, it would be even more amazing for the children. I would like to recommend this book to children, teenagers and adult who have went through so much in their life and is not yet healed from their pain. I am looking forward for the next book from the author.

The Ultimate, Comprehensive and Complete Self Help Book

Title: THE ULTIMATE, COMPLETE, AND COMPREHENSIVE SELF-HELP BOOK ON HOW TO AVOID BEING CONNED BY SELF-HELP BOOKS AND ALSO WHY TO AVOID THEM

Author: Biju Vasudevan

My Rating: 4.5/5

Format: Kindle

I am an avid reader. I have read some books of the author Biju Vasudevan. I found all these books quite interesting with unique plot. This one is not a self help book. Infact, it is a satire at the expense of Self Help books. This book gives a humorous look into the world of ‘self-help’ and ‘self-help’ books. The author has described how the so-called self help books influences the readers at the beginning but later the readers regret wasting their time on such books. The book makes use of good sarcasm and has given many examples to prove the point well.

The narration is really smooth and well paced. I have read a book on such a topic for the first time. I really appreciate the author to bring this topic in front of the readers. It will help them to choose the books they read wisely. This is a light hearted read. I would suggest others to read this book at least once for sure.

Lying in State by Biju Vasudevan

Book: Lying In State
Author: Biju Vasudevan

My Rating: 4/5
Format: Kindle

My Review:

Lying in State is a nail biting story about the Two Islands – Idyllia and Megaloman. Idyllia is a gold rich island. It’s neighboring Island Megaloman is it’s rival as it wants to forcefully take the gold deposit of Idyllia. Megaloman is militarily powerful island. One French legionnaires Pierre got to know about the gold deposits from the logbooks of Uncle Dominique Giancarlo Dijon. It was destiny’s wish that he got his hands on this logbook. What happens next in the story was thrilling.

This is not just a mystery and suspense thriller. It has a tinge of philosophical thoughts also. I found this as a great book since it answers many philosophical questions regarding human existence. The twist and turn of the story will definitely blow your mind away. This is really a unique story that I would recommend to the adults.
