🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“The Thousandth Year: Part 1: Meeting Jaeda” written by E.L. Anderson is an interesting read. The story features a people-pleaser Malachi aka Mal. He could talk about anything with his best friend Sheila from high school. Sheila and Malachi had many common interests. When Sheila left Boise to go to the University of Michigan, they kept in touch and talked on the phone for a few hours.

One day, Sheila stopped answering Malachi’s call. After two years, when Malachi saw Sheila doing grocery shopping, he tried to talk to her but she avoided him. Mal cried a lot and was badly hurt. He realized he was the only one who had put effort into all the friendships he had till now. Mal made the decision to enjoy solace and to not make any new friends. However, things changed when he came across an Earth Spirit Jaeda.

This is a unique story and an interesting one. I enjoyed every bit of it. The characters are written well by the author and the plot is nice. The author has used lucid language in the book and I had a great time reading this book. I am eagerly waiting to get my hands on the next book by the author.

‘The Liverwurst Tree and Other Stories’ written and illustrated by Lakota F. Meyer is a must read book. This book is a collection of poems that would bring a smile on the reader’s face.

“Button Button Who Touched my Mutton” is a rhyming poem. This poem is about a man whose mutton has been touched by someone else in his absence.

Outie Belly Button is a humorous poem about Vincent who has a six inches long belly button. Vincent gets stares from other people because of it but he is unashamed of it.

It’s a delightful read and I enjoyed this poetry collection. Those who appreciate humor would have a great time reading this collection. It’s a short read and readers could finish this anthology in one or two sittings. The writing style of the author is nice. Even if you aren’t an avid poetry reader, you would be able to follow the poems from this book. I recommend this collection to my fellow readers.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Pretty Little Widow written by the author Shelley Jinks Johnson is a collection of poems based on loss, love, grief, living, etc.

‘This is Grief’ is a poem about pain and tears that come after being separated from a loved one. The lover is longing for that special touch.

Dark Matter is a poem that we all could relate to. After being betrayed or wronged, we feel bitterness, anger, denial, regret, etc. I could very well feel the words of this poem.

Grief
Cosmos of darkness
Home of despair
anger
bitterness
loneliness
denial
regret
self-loathing

Pains of mercy, to live and ‘Catch and Release’ are a few of my favorite poems from the collection. This poetry book would take readers on a rollercoaster ride full of emotions. This is the debut book of the author and I enjoyed reading it. The author has used lucid language in the poems so I was able to understand the meaning behind them. Those who are not an avid poetry reader can also read this book. You would have a great time reading poems of different emotions.

Crossing Fifty-One: Not Quite a Memoir

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“Crossing Fifty-One: Not Quite a Memoir” written by the author Debbie Russell is an intriguing read. In this portrayal of complex family dynamics and long-buried secrets, we get to know about the author’s life and the legacy of her grandfather, Dr. Ralph Russell who entered a federal drug-treatment facility known as a narcotic farm in the 1950s.

Debbie got to know about the memoir of his great-grandfather “Life Story of Calvin Parker Russell: Western Pioneer and Ranchman”. One copy of it was passed to Debbie’s dad and she gladly took it from him. Debbie’s dad was diagnosed with Parkinson when he was seventy-six. Debbie being a good and responsible daughter has elevated her dad’s morale at times.

Debbie and her mother are different but with her father growing weaker day by day, they need to be in the same team and make decisions that are best for him. The family drama included in the story could make you relate with your family issues as many times our family keeps secrets from us even though we don’t want anything to be secret in a family. The letters from the members of her family that Debbie has included in this memoir are interesting to read.

Those who love reading memoirs with many characters should get their hands on this one. The author has well detailed everything in this book. The title of the book is suitable and it is written well. This book gave me a sneak peek into the struggles of midlife crisis and the dysfunctional family.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“The Faithful Dog” written by the author Terry Lee Caruthers is a Civil War Novel. This book is inspired by a true story and gripped my attention from the first page itself. Louis W. Pfeif informed his wife Elizabeth that he is reenlisted. Louis considers it his responsibility to serve for the country that has given them Freedom and opportunities.

As Louis prepared to leave home, Elizabeth was crying. Louis is given the rank of second lieutenant but Elizabeth is concerned for his safety. Their large black dog Bärchen was listening to the entire conversation and when Louis left, Bärchen ran behind him to join Louis on the mission.

After the training, Bärchen joined Louis in the Battle of Shiloh. Read this story to find out what will happen further. The writing style of the author is nice. This book highlights the emotions between a dog and a human. The title of the book couldn’t have been better than this. The cover photo is nice. I had a great time reading Terry’s book.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“Song Divine: With Commentary: A New Lyrical Rendition of the Bhagavad Gita” written by Lissa Coffey is a must read.

The original Bhagavad Gita contains 700 verses. This book contains 429, so it is a shortened version. The author has focused on the characters of Krishna and Arjuna. The author has explained how like Arjuna we are presented with choices that we don’t want to make. Lissa has mentioned that once we know who we are, the peace of mind is ours.

The dialogue conversations between Arjuna and Krishna offer lots of wisdom to the readers. The wrongdoings by us in the past could affect us in this life. So, we should help others, do good deeds, etc. I strongly agree with the below lines:

“You are your own hero. You are your own best friend. But you also are your enemy”.

It depends on us whether we want to follow the correct path or walk on the wrong one. This book enlightens us with so many valuable lessons. The knowledge that the author has shared with us through this book is valuable. I have learnt so many lessons from this book.

This book is truly an inspiration. I strongly recommend it to my fellow readers.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“All The Emotions: A Self-Guided, Thought Provoking, Healing Experience” written by the author Kori Denise Robinson is a great journal.

This book is for those who want to turn their pain into passion. This journal is to help readers in reflection, growth and living their best life. In this journal, the author has given various exercises like to list everything we dislike about ourselves, what are our accomplishments, how we can live on our own terms, etc.

“Loving someone who hurt you is not a weakness, letting them change the core of who you are is.”

I strongly agree with the above quote. We shouldn’t let anyone’s behavior change us. Always be yourself.

The Support System plays an important role. It’s important for us to surround ourselves with those who support us and are not toxic to us. The author has discussed various topics in this journal like trauma, letting go of a few people, boundaries, inner thoughts, etc. All these topics play an important role in our healing journey.

This journal will help you a lot in self-reflection. It will pull you out of the darkness and will take you on the path of light.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Hoods of Motherhood written by the author Lindsay Soberano Wilson is a collection of poems that portrays the bittersweet journey of becoming a mother.

Divine Motherhood is my favorite poem from the collection. This book makes the readers realize that only after becoming a mother, we could understand and appreciate the things our mother has done for us.

She didn’t only carry me in the womb: she carried me through the years and the fears
from diapers to walking shoes
from cabbage patch dolls to initial rings
from training bras to graduation caps from not knowing myself
to thinking I knew myself
to getting to know me
to getting to know a new self
to relearning all I knew about myself

Bath Time Ritual is another interesting poem. This book throws light on the challenges of motherhood. This is an insightful and engaging read. Those who are a mother would go down the memory lane along with the poems of this book. Motherhood is a joyful and challenging journey. I had a great time reading this poetry book. I strongly recommend it to all the mothers or mother-to-be. Looking forward to reading more books by the author.
