Language: English

Rating: 5/5

“The Old Men Who Row Boats And Other Stories” written by the author David Joseph is a collection of short stories. These stories are set mostly in Spain. There are total 14 short stories in this collection.

First is the titular story “The Old Men Who Row Boats”. Old men row boats in the morning hours at Retiro Park. This made them feel manly and it’s a great physical activity for them to move their limbs. One of the men who row boats is Javier who lived in a small apartment near the Reina Sofía Museum. Javier had never married and had no children. His routine is to have coffee before rowing.

My favourite among the collection is “The Girl at the Chocolate Shop”. It’s a story about a tiny Chocolate Shop where people of different profession or age stop by. It is about the smile of a girl who works at the Chocolate Shop. There are many rumors about the reason of a girl’s smile.

unNecessary Pain by author Erica Nobles

Book: unNecessary Pain

Author: Erica Nobles

Available On: Amazon

Language: English

Rating: 4.5/5

unNecessary Pain written by the author Erica Nobles is a poetry book. It is a collection of eight poems that describes the path from heartbreak to healing. My favourite from the collection are: Turn Back Time and Life Goes On. This book is an emotional read. One could relate to one or more poetry lines.

If I could turn back time and undo the words I said.
If I could turn back time and undo the way I behaved.
If I could turn back time and undo our holding hands
and our first kiss.
If I could turn back time and not reveal my hopes and
dreams and fears to you.

I really appreciate that author has shared deepest of her emotions with the readers. Not everyone has the courage to do that. Most of us go through a phase of life when we have to go through suffering, pain, etc. Sometimes we feel like undoing the things we had done in the past. I could relate well to the poems. These poems has also thrown a light on how God helps us and prevent us from going on the wrong path.

Writing style of Erica is nice. Poems are written in simple language so beginners could also understand the deep emotions that author has expressed with the help of words. It is a short read that one could finish in a single sitting. I am definitely interested to read more work by Erica Nobles.
