Being a short stories lover, recently I picked the book Neon Noir: Episode 1 written by the author Jayme Lee. Story features a private investigator Dalton. His office is on the first floor, right above
the stage of the bar. One day when Dalton was in his office, a note was slipped from the gold mail slot and fell onto the hardwood floor. An address 5th Main – Dakota was mentioned on it.

Story is set in the city of Clairsville that it also known as Neon City because of the presence of Neon lights everywhere around. Dalton left his office to visit Charlie Green at the address mentioned in the note. Grab a copy of this intriguing story to find out what happens next.

Cover photo of the story is amazing. The atmosphere setting and description made me feel like I am right there in the story. I enjoyed reading every bit of it. If you are a fan of detective fiction then don’t miss to pick this one.

“Melik Nightcat And The Elven Prince: The Key Of Brundag” is the debut novel of the author J Kirk Perry. Melik Lightbringer traveled from the capital city of Vellinova. When he was performing among a small gathering of farmers, an elf came to bring him to Jarl Westmoor, Lord of Drakhelm.

Melik is referred to as Nightcat in song and story. Prince Sylmore presented Melik in front of the Jarl. Nightcat was commanded to join Prince Sylmore on his quest. Grab a copy of this novel and find out yourself what happens next.

Language of the book is lucid. Cover photo is eye catchy. Storyline is different. Pace of the novel is fine and I didn’t feel bored while reading it. Characters are well written. World building is nice and I appreciate author’s vivid imagination for creating such a fantasy story.

The first story in the collection “Death of School Bus 333” is an interesting story. In this, a guy secured a school bus driver job. He was given bus 333 to drive. During the inspection of the bus, he saw dark spirits of children. What is the purpose behind giving this job to a guy?

Nice Men Kill – it’s a story about a man Fast Freddie who was once a loving husband and father. But now, he hates all woman. He is no more a family man. He has killed, raped and eaten half of his family.

Stories ending is amazing. Plot of the stories are unique. It’s a refreshing horror read. If you are looking for something spooky, then go ahead with this book. Language of the book is lucid with a smooth narration so it is easy to follow the stories. Looking forward to read more work of Frederick Williams.

Camp Stories written by the author Dave Lemos is the second installment in The Saltys Tales series. The story is about the adventures of the jumping spiders. There are many characters in the story. Zenzi and his buzzer band of fly friends call themselves Zippers. There are others: Jade (green jumping spider), Ember (amber color spider, Kapri (Jade’s brother), Amy and Fuchsia (Amy’s sister).

A family with kids Jordan and Tanya went for the camping trip and the yard spiders were tagged along in their car. Fuchsia is such a delicate one. She is afraid of the pests that could be there in the wild. Will the unhappy campers gonna have fun?

It was interesting to read about the lightning bugs and the fireflies. Daddy with his insect knowledge told the kids that they are all same with different names. Language of the book is easy to understand. Cover photo of the book is nice with a suitable title. A cast of characters list at the beginning of the book would have been more helpful.

He tells the story of how black people came to the Caribbean island of Barbados on a slave ship. The story begins through the eyes of Amare’s family who was living peacefully on the continent of Africa.

One day as Amare and his son Zarik went to the river to catch fish, they saw men talking in a language unknown to them and having a different coloured skin. Zarik was able to get away but Amare was captured.

Grab a copy of this novel and read it yourself to find out what happened to Amare and Zarik and to learn more about the life of black people, how they were enslaved in the past and how they are still victims of their dark skin and over 400 years of slavery.

The cover of this book very thoughtfully portrays the essence of the novel and the title is more than fitting to it’s story.

“It Was Written” is a poetry collection written by the poet Deanna Hill. These poems are based on different topics like birthday, grateful, alive, thoughts, etc. My favourite poem from the collection is “Thank you for existing”.

You asked me why I loved you
I thought you already knew
Sometimes it’s confusing to say out loud
So I wrote a poem for you…

The way your eyes light up when you look at me
To all the little things you do
It’s not about sex
Not even about looks
You show me the sun whenever I’m blue All of this without trying
I love you for just being you

Language of the poems is easy and one could understand them even if they are not an avid poetry reader. I could relate well to many poems. Poems have different alignment. They are aligned to the left, right or centre. Reading this poetry book is a soulful experience.

Cover photo of the book is decent and title is suitable. One could enjoy few poems at a time with a cup of tea by sitting in a front porch.

“Tales From The Rapers” written by the author Frederick Williams is a collection of short stories of horror. There are total nine stories in this book penned down in 12 pages.

Wombman’s Hell is the first story. I was shocked while reading this. I am aware about sexual abuse where a father or uncle abuse the girl child of the family but I guess for the first time I have read about mom abusing her son sexually. This sexual abuse built anger in the boy and he killed his mom. The woman now wants to return to take revenge of her murder.

With These Hands – It is another interesting story about a guy who makes millions by stealing body parts and organs from cemeteries and sell them to scientists.

All the stories are interesting and I appreciate author’s vivid imagination for creating these intense stories. Language of the book is lucid and cover photo is nice. Pace of the story is fine. In just few words author has said much in his stories. I read this book at night time and I had to sleep with lights on.

He had a nightmare in which an evil entity ripped away his family from him. When Leonardo woke up in the morning, he felt something wrong.

Upon reaching home, he saw his family brutally murdered and there was blood in the house. Leonardo ran away and hid himself in the woods. When he asked Wilber Hatchet to take him along, Leonardo heard Wilber selling him to Thomas Hill. So, he ran away. While living on the streets and stealing food and money, he was caught by town officers. He was sent to Le Fleur, a small slave trade owned by Thomas Hill. Later he was bought by Matthew Cooper to work on his land.

Leonardo’s life has become horrible now. Also, he feel being watched by someone. Will the evil entity that is watching him will take him away from his horrible life?

Language of the book is lucid. Story is captivating and has the power to hook the readers. World building is intense. Cover photo is eye catchy and the title is suitable. Pace of the story is fine. It didn’t feel slow or rushed. I enjoyed reading this story a lot and looking forward to read more books by the author. If you love vampires stories then don’t miss to pick this one.
