Devouring Darkness penned is the second book by the author Martyn Rhys Vaughan that I have read. This book is a collection of short stories. I loved the Flash Fictions from this collection.

It Happened Just As The Clock Struck Midnight is a flash fiction. In this, the narrator is a ghost and he can’t stand the fact that a family has moved into his house. Humans aren’t able to see the narrator but only a cat can see so the narrator finally gave up on haunting the newly moved people.

Another short story “A Room with a view” features Norton who was called by the Council Leader. Two guards took him to the Leader’s sanctum. The Leader was not in favour of whatever Norton had suggested earlier and he decided to give him a period of solitary confinement as a punishment.

Stories are interesting with the ending that were unexpected. I enjoy the humour that the author has in his writing. Cover photo of the book looks nice and the title is suitable for the collection. If you love reading short stories then go ahead with Martyn’s work. I am sure you will love his collection.

Share My Love penned by the author Jamal Roberson is a poetry book. This is the second book by Jamal that I have read. This book is a collection of many poems. The author has mentioned in this book how we need to share both our accomplishments and disappointments to share our love.

Recognize, Blind are some of the poems that I loved from the collection but my favorite is the titular poem “Share My Love”.

It’s been so real, It’s been hard
To get away from love
Wish you knew what this felt like
Visions of you finding me
Bringing me
To places of amazing destiny
My minds been set awry
Too concentrated on you
Wasn’t prepared for this

Love is not just showing your good side to your partner. We should share our ups and downs with the one we love. That is what makes the relationship stronger.

In To Me You See is a fantastic poem. It has touched my heart. Language used in the poems are lucid. Even if you are not a poetry reader, you would be able to understand what Jamal is trying to convey to the readers. Cover photo of the book is looking nice.

Written in 34 pages, this is a short and quick read that one could finish in single sitting. I enjoyed these poems with a cup of tea while sitting on my front porch. If you are a fan of poetry then you shouldn’t miss to give a shot to this poetry collection. I am sure you gonna enjoy it.

The Descendants penned by the author Destiny Hawkins is the first installment in The Descendants series. Story is set in Lytonia. Main character of the story is Rayah Bardeau. At Monroe Academy, she is a null meaning someone who couldn’t produce even a speck of light. Other students of the Monroe Academy are lighters, citizens of the Lighter Nation. They could produce light to protect their nation from outside enemies.

Years ago, Rayah’s parents requested Artemis and others on the council to give their daughter a second chance. Rayah was given time until the age of twenty to make level six. But only eight months are left and she is still level one. Grab a copy of this book and read it yourself to know will Rayah be able to produce light? Will she be successful in making her mother free?

This is a unique story and I enjoyed every bit of it. Plot of the story is super interesting. I was on the edge the whole time while reading this. Writing style of the author is nice. Cover photo looks amazing and the title is suitable.

“The Vicissitude of a Femme Fatale” is a captivating story written by the author Anthony Walker. Story features a 15 years old girl named Gloria. In three years, she was experiencing her fourth foster family. Recently her case worker Jessica Santiago took her to the new adoptive
parents Buck and Patty. Buck and Patty are the parents of two boys: Dale and Jacob. Her adopted family doesn’t care much about her wellbeing. They are just interested in the extra monthly income that comes with Gloria.

Her earlier foster family has an abusive man Dan who after getting drunk physically abused Gloria or his wife. At Lincoln High, Gloria has two friends Jeremy and Malala. Grab a copy of this book to know for yourself what’s gonna happen next. It’s a story worth reading. Writing style of the author is nice. Storyline is interesting and the pace of the story is fast. I didn’t feel bored anytime while reading it. High school or college students are gonna enjoy it more. Anthony has written the characters well. I like to strongly recommend this to my fellow readers.

Project Onion penned by the author Karen Stensgaard is an intriguing suspense novel. Main character of the story is Kathryn Jensen aka Kat. She has recently joined at Melville Consulting as an internal auditor in New York. There are total four persons in that investigation company: Kat’s boss Jackson, a former CIA Spy, Anita, an ex-NYPD Detective and Shantelle, an in-house lawyer.

Kat has been assigned on Project Onion, a code word. She has tracked main bank account of a Puerto Rican drug Lord El Rey. The bank freezes the account of El and therefore, he threatened Jackson to kill him. Jackson and his employees stayed hidden under the office table and Kat decided that she will quit this job that involves so much danger.

I was amazed to know about Kat’s year off from work for a vacation and visiting family and friends. This is not something everybody can do. Reading about Nathan and Kat’s brother made me emotional. No matter how bad a situation is, nobody should even think about suicide. Read this book to know will Kat decide to continue her job. Language used in the book is lucid. Storyline is unique and interesting. The twists and turns in the story kept me on the edge and I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it.

I am highly impressed with Karen’s writing and I am curious to read more of her work.

The first story “A Broken-hearted daughter” is about a seventeen years old girl whose heart was just broken by the man she loves. But her mother has no idea how to give support to your daughter when she falls apart in your arms.

Another story “Did I disappoint my daughter, again?” is about a mother who is not rich financially and couldn’t support her daughter’s expensive taste financially.

Written in 56 pages, there are many stories to which one could relate. I loved this book as this book gives a sneak peak into women’s life and the challenges they face in their day to day life. Cover photo of the book looks nice and the title is suitable. One could finish it in a single sitting.

She was born as a noblewoman to a Protestant family in Paris, France. Emilie’s parents don’t allow her to have a classical education. Her brother Pierre is mean and her parents have a plan to marry her to Pierre’s friend Marcus Daval who is evil.

Emilie wanted to be a healer but by living at her home, she couldn’t get her hands on the books that would give her that kind of education. She started sneaking into the garden to learn about some herbs from her gardener Thomas. Emilie was given a choice by her parents to be either a lady-in-waiting or a wife of Marcus Daval? Which path Emilie will choose? Will she create her own path?

Story is intriguing and the plot is constructed so nicely that it hooked my attention till the last page. Cover photo of the book is nice and the title is suitable. Emilie’s character is something I cherished totally while reading this book. I liked her bravery. Emilie’s brother Marcus is really a pain in the neck. They played a perfect part of the villains. Ingrid’s writing style is nice and I am curious to read more of her work.

Recently I got my hands on the Science Fiction novel “Panglossian: Quasi-Daisy” penned by the author M K Bingman. Main character of the story is Faith. She is a junior in high school who is about to graduate. At the graduation ceremony, Faith didn’t have any friends. Faith’s life took a turn when she saw The Man. She asked The Man to run because she saw an unhappy creature coming towards them. The Man told her that this creature is Goobert. It usually lives on the sixth plane of existence in the third realm. When Faith unintentionally killed Goobert, she was marked for life with that little guy’s curse.

In the Home Realm, The Man told Miss Faith that it’s his birth place and she is an anomaly. The Great Powers Be willed her into existence for some reason. Story picked pace and become interesting when Faith and the Man travelled to the Kalolo Embassy’s, Planet Quii. Quii is the home to Rymuth Elves race. Grab a copy of this book and read it for yourself to know about the adventures and challenges that Faith encounters.

Story involves the use of technology. The Man communicated with Miss Faith using telepathy. Faith’s character is bold. She uses very strong and foul language most of the time. Cover photo of the book looks nice. Narration is smooth and I was easily able to follow the story. If you love reading sci-fi stories then go ahead with this one.

Hell Again written by the author Mihret Adal Gidi is an intriguing story. Story features Adah Bamlakfekad Aschalew. Adah has come from Canada to her hometown Ethiopia. She is about to marry Teddy who is not her father’s choice. But still somehow, Adah’s father agreed for their marriage. Adah went to a late night party with her bridesmaids the day before the wedding. Her friends offered to drop her home but she insisted on taking a taxi.

Unfortunately, the taxi was having issues so Adah decided to walk. She met a stranger on the way and he is quite handsome. Adah found herself attracted to him. She was attracted to him to the level that she didn’t mind spreading her legs for him. She lost her virginity to a stranger just before the day of her wedding. Next morning, Adah noticed that she was at a strange place that seemed magical and like a dream.

What is Adah gonna do? Will she still marry Teddy? The plot of the story is unique and interesting. Cover photo looks awesome and according to the story. I appreciate the author’s choice of title for this book. Writing style is nice with a smooth narration and I enjoyed reading this novel. World building is amazing. Go ahead with this book. I am sure you won’t regret picking it.

I am really glad to get my hands on an amazing poetry book Eleven Sundry Flowers penned by the author Frank Mundo and illustrated by Keith Draws.

Frank had written eleven poems for her wife Nancy Aceves during their courtship days. He has composed these poems for eleven days, one poem a day. The author has only written eleven poems i.e. flowers for his Nancy because she is the twelfth flower.

The author has narrated about his feelings and life in these poems. These are love poems and I enjoyed reading them. The illustrations are rich. This is the first time that I have read a book with such rich illustrations. Flower Powered is my favorite poem from the collection. In this, the author has related his love Nancy with the butterfly 🦋.

These poems seem very close to the author’s heart. This way of presentation of love is something I can’t appreciate in words. I loved this idea to present a flower/poem to your fiance during the courtship days. If you love reading poems then pick this book. You will love the author’s writing in which he has poured his heart.
