🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“Zaidy’s War: Four Armies, Three Continents, Two Brothers” written by the author Martin Bodek is one Man’s Impossible Story of Endurance. This book is about the survival of Martin’s grandfather Zaidy during years of wars. Zaidy was born on Dec 17, 1918. He was named Benzion, son of Zion. Benzion’s name was his destiny. Zaidy knew he loved learning and only war could interrupt it.

In late 1939, Zaidy was 21 years old. He was called for duty with the Romanian Armed Forces for a term
of one year but Zaidy’s service was canceled before the year completed and he was sent home. Then he was called to serve in the Hungarian Forced Labor Service System.

The Hungarian army abused him for his Jewishness. Read this book to know more about Zaidy’s life as he served different armies like the German army, the Soviet army, etc. Martin sat with Zaidy to record his story when Martin’s wife Naomi was working as a chef’s class assistant. He has transcribed the tape recordings in this book and it was interesting to read them.

I binge read this book. It’s written well and is worth reading. I appreciate the remarkable resilience of Zaidy. This book teaches us to be resilient in life. The pictures, documents, letters, etc that the author has attached at the end made me feel more connected to the story.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Her True Love is an intriguing story penned by the author Koko Storm. The story has two main characters: Nikita and Liam. Both of them had bad former relationships.

Nikita was in a relationship with Dante Garrison. When she told him that she was pregnant, he left her all alone. Nikita delivered triplets and was a single parent to them. After 25 years of raising them, she feels free as she has raised them responsibly.

Liam was asked to date a family friend Tatiana Ivanov. After dating for six months, they found out that Tatiana is pregnant. Their son was diagnosed with autism at a young age and Tatiana can’t raise a child with issues.

What will happen when Liam and Nikita meet? They both have a broken past. Nikita doesn’t like his arrogance and Liam doesn’t like the way she talks to him. Will they ever get close?

It’s a nicely written book. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Nikita and Liam. The storyline is intriguing. The pace of the story is fast and I wasn’t bored anytime while reading it. The author has done great work in this book. I would definitely be interested in reading more books by Koko in the near future. Go ahead with this story. It will stay in your head for a long time.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
All About Slime written by Nicole S Brown is a poetry journal regarding counterfeit love.

“I really miss the man I love” touched my heart. It reminded me of my love who is a part of someone else’s life.

‘I Don’t Want You to’ poem expresses the expectations of a girl from the man she loves. She wants him to be with her instead of marrying another woman. Some of us could have been in such a situation and could feel the deep emotions behind these words.

Nicole has written this journal in a smooth writing style. The words of the poem life thief are touching. After losing our love, we still crave to be around him. He becomes our world and we keep on thinking non-stop about that one person.

Fans of poetry journals should add this one to their bookshelf. It’s the first poetry journal that I read this year and is written wonderfully by the author. I am glad to read it. It’s worth reading.

I love reading poetry books and going down the memory lane to school days. So, I got my hands on the book “School Days, Holidays, and All Days That Lie Between” written by Nicole S Brown.

In the poem ‘My Students’, a teacher has mentioned how she treats her students like her own children.

Follow Your Dreams tells us to follow our dreams even if others try to lower our self esteem. It felt relatable to this poem as my self-esteem was hurt by a few people in the past year. But this poem is an inspiration to follow our dreams until they come true.

Readers would find poems based on different topics like Chemistry, Physics, Australia, Turkeys, If I were a Snowflake, etc.

It’s a great poetry book for light reading. It cheered my mood after a hectic work day. One could read this poetry book in two sittings. Poems are short and interesting. Go with this book without any second thoughts.

“Trials of a Northeast Louisiana Child” is another interesting book written by Nicole S. Brown. It’s a collection of poems. ‘It’s My Time to Shine’, ‘Quit Hating, I’m Fighting’, No Help Wanted and ‘What will happen next?’ are my favorite poems from this collection.

In the poem ‘What will happen next?’, the narrator is concerned about what will happen next in life. It shows that in difficult times, we call on Jesus’ name and he helps us.

The bonus poem ‘Success Story’ at the end of the book is something I enjoyed the most. The poems are deep, emotional and intense. The title of the book is something I really like. The poems are according to the title.

Nicole’s writing could be followed easily by the non-avid poetry readers too. If you want to try reading poetry then this book is something you can go ahead with. I appreciate the author’s poetry journal writing style.

“More School Days, Holidays, and All Days That Lie Between” written by the author Nicole Brown is a poetry book on holidays and multiple subject matter.

The poem Periodic Table took me back to school and reminded me of the chemistry classes:

I call it the road
Map of chemists. It tells us
About elements.

The poem Time reminds us to use it wisely. Beginning a Business is a short and lovely poem. “It’s been a good year” poem made me reflect on 2022 and wonder how my year went by. Most of the poems are relatable and the readers would connect with these poems in a moment.

It is an educational read. If you are interested in reading poems about education then this book is a good choice. I strongly recommend this book to school and college students. They would be delighted to read this poetry book.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“The Stairs on Billy Buck Hill” written by the author Steven Orebaugh is a compelling read. This book takes readers into the world of the opioid crisis in America. The Pittsburgh history that the author has covered in this book is amazing. In this story, Dr. Kurt McCain puts his career and relationships with the loved ones in trouble. Each day, Kurt injected potent opioids into people’s veins.

The sinister influence of opioids was everywhere. One day, the chief confronted Kurt for stealing and abusing opioids. Will Kurt be able to overcome his dependence on opioids? Who is the woman involved with him in this?

I really appreciate the author’s choice for the title of this book. The cover-photo is also eye-catching. This story around anesthesia, opioids, Pittsburgh will hook you till the last page. The narration is smooth and I was able to follow the story easily. Go with this book without any second thoughts.

“Moving Forward for a Longer Life” written by the author Margaret Lang is an interesting read. In this book, the author has mentioned that being alive is a great blessing. After losing her mother and sister in the early eighties, she questioned herself “will she die in her early 80s?”

Margaret has the purpose to live beyond 80. She wants to share her learnings with other people. She interviewed many people asking them their reasons to live longer. Their stories of inspiration strengthen Margaret’s resolve.

The wisdom that Margaret has shared in this book is truly appreciated. Margaret’s writing style is amazing. This book has smooth narration. It’s a unique book and I enjoyed reading it. Ugly Alter Egos

.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Ugly Alter Egos written by the author Natasha Butler is the first installment in the “Awakening Inner Me to my Enemies” book series. The main character of the story is 21 years old Jada Lashae Watkins. She is in her senior year at North Hatterasville State University in Hatterasville, Tennessee. Jada was having anxiety, nervous breakdown and signs of chronic depression. She visited a psychologist on campus to discuss her feelings. Jada told Dr. Tzu that she feels like no one loves her. The hurt from the loss of her mother to breast cancer is still with her.

As the story progresses, we meet other characters: Dante Alexander, Vicky and Nate. Will they play any role in Jada’s life as she battles with depression? I loved Jada’s sessions with Dr. Tzu. The story feels touching as many of us are seeking peace. Even though we don’t see a psychologist, we struggle with mental health issues sometimes in life.

This book is a great reminder to those who are struggling with mental health issues. It’s okay to open up to the organization or people who are there for your help. The writing style of the author is nice. The title is suitable. The pace of the story is fast and I wasn’t bored anytime while reading it. College students would enjoy reading this story. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series.
