Interview with author Kay Moore

Book: Nymphomania: The Nymph Series

Q1. Hello Ma’am, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

My pen name is Ka’mooRe. I am from Indianapolis, Indiana. I currently work in education.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘Nymphomania: The Nymph Series’ book?

The Nymph series has been in the making for about 4 and half years, and I think the biggest challenge I have faced when writing this book is finding the time to actually sit down and write. I have always loved writing, so as I got older and more responsibilities were added on to my plate. It was difficult to find time for my writing.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Some authors that have influenced my writing or been an inspiration me are: Wahida Clark, Mary B. Morrison/Honey B, Zane, Carl Weber, Allison Hobbs, Cairo. There are so many more but these are my favorites that have opened the door of creativity for me.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

I can’t honestly say that outside of my home that I have a favorite place to visit. My home is my peace and I think that’s where I come up with some of my best ideas.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

Every author’s writing process is different, but there is definitely a lot to do before I actually begin writing. I like to bullet point the idea I have and from there I begin my character development. Once that is complete, I find an empty notebook and number the pages 1-10. If I can write at least 10 pages I continue with the story, if I can’t make it to 10 pages, I usually scrape the idea and come back to it later.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘Nymphomania: The Nymph Series’ book?

It took about four years for Nymphomania to finally be completed. Most of my stories were posted on my Tumblr page I had a few years ago, then I decided to compile all of the stories into a novella.

Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘Nymphomania: The Nymph Series’ book to buy?

As of right now, Nymphomania: The Nymph Series is available on Amazon. It can be purchased as a kindle e-book or paperback, and I am working on rolling out a hardcover version as well. I am also working diligently to make it available on other platforms as well.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Nymphomania: The Nymph Series’?

So, originally the book was titled The Nymph Series, I liked it but I felt it didn’t have a ring to it. I wrote down about 3-4 other names and Nymphomania won. GOONiE Graphics designed an amazing cover for me. He completely surpassed the expectations I had for the cover. I remember sharing with him that I want the cover to catch people’s attention, because I am a firm believer that a book cover can determine how interested readers are in the book.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I try to keep things fresh for both myself and readers, by just trying to write about real life situations and events. I love for my writing and stories to be relatable to my audience. Of course there is some embellishing and extraness throughout my stories, but writing from experience has been working well for me.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

I can’t say they are secrets but my goal when writing The Nymph Series was to have a story for everyone. I’m all about inclusi

Interview with author Ray Catania

Book: The Atheist and the Afterlife – An Autobiography: A True Story Of Inspiration, Transformation, And The Pursuit Of Enlightenment

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

Hello. My name is Ray Catania, and I am a teacher of Metaphysics, a Spiritual Coach, and of course an author.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘The Atheist and the Afterlife – an Autobiography: A True Story of Inspiration, Transformation, and the Pursuit of Enlightenment’ book?

Since it is an autobiography, one of the primary challenges was recalling the events of the past as detailed as possible, to immerse the reader in the story. Allowing them to feel like they were there with me and get the true sense who I was, where I was, and where I was going.
Another came about from describing the supernatural events surrounding my spiritual awakening. It can be difficult to elaborate and conceptualize paranormal activity and things not of this earth. For example, to explain a near-death experience, can be somewhat challenging, because we don’t really have all the words in our vocabulary to describe such an event.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

I don’t know if I have a writing style per say. This is my first book and I just sort of wrote it straight from heart, exactly the way I would say the words to you if we sat down and had a talk.

Q4. What’s your favorite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

Since my spiritual awakening I have been significantly attracted to nature. I like places with trees, mountains, lakes, or streams. Very quiet, peaceful, and tranquil type places.

Q5. Is there much to do before you dive in and start writing this type of book?

The book had actually begun as a journal of the crazy events that were transpiring all around me. As something unexplainable would happen, I would write about them. For example, if I received a message from the other side, had a vision, or a premonition, I would write it as quickly as possible so as not to forget the details. It was from these journals of experiences that book was born from.
You would think that because these events were so far out of the norm that they would be easy to remember but it is actually the opposite. I think it is because of the way the information is transmitted. Through thought and energy, makes it very fragile. As opposed to the written word, spoken word, etc. If you take something in through the usual five human senses it is much easier to remember because we practice it all the time, but the sixth sense isn’t something we focus on typically and so it makes retention more difficult.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘The Atheist and the Afterlife – an Autobiography: A True Story of Inspiration, Transformation, and the Pursuit of Enlightenment’?

Well since it is an autobiography, I suppose I could say about 40 years, given my age but actually it took about eighteen months or so to get the material from my mind to digital paper.

Q7. On what platforms can readers find and purchase ‘The Atheist and the Afterlife – an Autobiography: A True Story of Inspiration, Transformation, and the Pursuit of Enlightenment’?

The book is available in 52 countries worldwide, anywhere books are sold. It is available in various formats including digital versions for Amazon, Apple, and Barnes and Noble, and the new audiobook version has just begun to hit stores, which I narrated myself.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘The Atheist and the Afterlife – an Autobiography: A True Story of Inspiration, Transformation, and the Pursuit of Enlightenment’?

The idea of the title was explaining the immense transformation I underwent spiritually. In the book’s beginning I am a non-believer. An atheist who after a spiritual awakening, transpiring over decades of time and many paranormal events, finally succumbs and concedes to the fact that not only is there an afterlife, but I have the ability to communicate with it.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also you?

Well, the idea of the book is to take the reader along with me on the wild ride that is my life. It is written from the first person. So, I try to make the reader feel as though they are having the same experiences with me, as they are happening. Much of the latter portion of the book was written in real time. You get to read parts from my journal. So, as I learn and experience new things, the reader will get to learn and experience new things with me. There is no shortage of material. In fact, since the publishing of that first book, I have enough material for the second which is almost completed. I already have a good idea about the third one too.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

Oh yes! There are many. The book is divided into three parts. The first part of the book is “My Life.” It is filled with trauma and tragedy. Including my own death, which I came back to write about. The second part of the book is called “Our Lives” because this is when I meet and fall in love with Jessica. She was the catalyst, in me exploring the things that were happening to me after the NDE. During this second part of the book, we get to meet and interact with her dad. He has been dead for over 20 years. In the third and final part of the book entitled “The Afterlife” I explain my theory of where we go when we die. I am not talking about any imaginary conceptual realities, I mean I will tell you where the energy that makes up the human conscious mind will actually, physically, go when the body dies.

The Atheist and the Afterlife – An Autobiography: A True Story Of Inspiration, Transformation, And The Pursuit Of Enlightenment

Interview with author Kathy Duffy

Book: Ryder And Piper The Puppy

Q1. Please introduce yourself so that the readers will get to know you better.

My name is Kathy Riggs Duffy. My husband, of thirty-one years, and I live in Milton, Georgia. We live on a farm with horses, goats, dogs, cats, chickens and bees. We raised two wonderful daughters who are now grown and loving life.

Q2. What is your inspiration behind your book “Ryder and Piper the Puppy”?

Children are my greatest inspiration. I believe children who love to read are more successful in school. Better grades and scores in school are less stress on the growing stressors of todays society. Books are also fun for kids and much healthier than electronic devices. I want to help kids enjoy reading and if they learn a little something while doing so, that’s good too.

Q3. What are your hobbies apart from writing?

Ah, so many. I love the sport of dressage. We have a garden with fruits, vegetables and flowers I tend. Photography of animals, beekeeper, decorating and dog training are other hobbies I enjoy.

Q4. Are you planning to write your next book soon?

Yes, I’ve started on the second book in the “Tails from Southern Seasons Farm” series. If all goes well, it will be released in fall of 2022.

Q5. For which age group your book “Ryder and Piper the Puppy” suitable for?

It can be read by ages eight through twelve. However, I believe the earlier you begin to read to children the sooner they begin to associate comfort and enjoyment with books.

Q6. What is your favorite quote?

I do not know where it originated and it may seem almost too simple, but it is, “Live, Laugh, Love”.

Q7. What makes your city special?

The horses make our city special. I bet that is one you have never heard before! We have been called an equestrian community. There are many equestrians and farms in the area. I love living so close to a large city, such as Atlanta, and still having a rural feel.

Q8. What suggestion you want to give to parents of little readers regarding a reading habit?

Read to them a lot before they can read on their own. When they do begin to read be patient. Never get frustrated at the time it takes them to sound out words or if they get it wrong. Disciplining them to much for incorrect reading with crush their joy of it.

Q9. What does literary success look like for you?

Children loving my books and wanting more.

Q10. Lastly, who is your inspiration in life and why?

My daughters inspire me to be the best I can be. I want to teach them that a mother, woman, no matter your age can start new things in life. Be who or what you want to be and don’t let anything, or anyone stand in your way. Life is a gift. Open it every day.

Interview with author Len Handeland

Book: The Darkest Gift

Q1. Hello Sir, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

Hello readers! I’m Len Handeland. I am a new author who specializes in fiction books, specifically horror (vampire and paranormal) and murder, crime, dramas. I’ve always enjoyed writing and am drawn to being creative—as far back as I can remember. Back in middle school, when my classmates and I were assigned a book report, and the others groaned, I cheered—not only being given an exciting novel to read but also the opportunity to compose the essay assignment as well. Everything had to be perfect, the spelling, grammar, and accuracy regarding the subject matter. Later on—in my late teens, I attended FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in Manhattan studying fashion illustration; years later, I decided to pursue a career in the hair industry using my artistic training and creativity to excel in hair. I decided to pursue writing after reading many of Anne Rice’s work (having read all of her Vampire chronicle books) and after having attended many creative writing classes and attending the San Francisco International writers’ conference—decided it was time for me to write a Vampire story of my own; in my words, given my affinity for vampires. A different story—where love and companionship is the only thing that matters. When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading and enjoy vegetarian cooking. Some of my other hobbies include hiking, biking, and billiards. I enjoy the performing arts and I have trained in Martial Arts for over 25 years. I call Palm Springs home which I share with my husband, Byron, and our two adorable tuxedo cats, Felix & Felicia (who are brother and sister)

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘The Darkest Gift’ book?

I wrote “The Darkest Gift” as I felt no other author had written an enthralling vampire romance novel since Anne Rice, which was a breakthrough in featuring two vampires of the same gender as a couple. Being a life-long fan of vampires starting when I was a small child and into my adult years, I wanted to write a compelling and enthralling book where the characters are complicated (both humans and vampires) and that the same-sex couples are far less ambiguous about their sexual orientation than in vampire books of the last century. Where the emphasis is on love, whether human and vampire or two vampires (of the same gender), it was vital for me to avoid anything graphically sexual, so that I would describe was my biggest challenge in writing my book. I wanted the focus instead to be on the sensual aspect of two men together. Also noteworthy was addressing stereotypes regarding vampires and some of the gay men in my book. That all vampires are evil and unfeeling creatures, that all gay men are effeminate, couldn’t be further from the truth. I utilized the classic tale of good versus evil (in this case, vampire against vampire) and how one of the human characters, Jack, despite his struggles with sexual orientation, finally learns to accept and embrace who he truly is. The message I’m trying to deliver is: do what is right and be true to yourself. In my novel, that applies not only to humans but vampires alike.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

My favorite genre is fiction, specifically horror. I have many authors who I not only admire but also have read their books extensively throughout the years. They include Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Anne Rice. I consider Anne Rice who wrote all of her brilliant vampire books so eloquently (“Interview with the vampire”, “The vampire LeStat”, and “Queen of the Damned”) to be my main inspiration. In fact, some readers have commented that my book, “The Darkest Gift” reminds them of her writing style.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

My favorite place to visit in my country (the US) is New York City. I lived in Manhattan in the early 1980s and that is where I met my husband as well. The city is rich in history, diversity and as they say, “it’s the city that never sleeps” as it has never-ending energy.

Q5. Are there lots to do before you dive in and start writing a book?

Every author has their own technique. For me, I like to have an outline of my story before I sit down to write it. It needs to have a flow, it needs to have structure as well as an interesting plot, and characters that are more than one-dimensional. Character development is extremely important so that your readers will identify with, and become enthralled with the entire story.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘The Darkest Gift’ book?

I was in another profession altogether so I was not able to devote my time to writing full-time. I was a very busy hairstylist and hair salon owner. My first book “The Darkest gift” took 5 ½ years to write. I have since retired from doing hair and now can devote most of my time to writing. In fact, I started writing my second novel “Requiem for Miriam” two and a half months ago. It is a murder, crime, drama, with paranormal activity set in Manhattan, Westchester County, and Mexico in the 1980s. I am currently on Chapter 13 and should have it released by late January or the beginning of February (2022)

Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘The Darkest Gift’ book to buy?

My book is available on Amazon (in paperback, hardcover, and EBook for Kindle) as well as Barnes & Noble, Lulu.com, Target.com, and “Notion Press” (in India)

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘The Darkest Gift’ ?

I got my book idea title from vampire mythology. The Dark Gift is a term for vampiric power. When a vampire maker bestows the power to become immortal that is transmitted through the Blood on a fledgling, that maker is offering the Dark Gift. According to the rules of Santino’s coven, the Dark Gift was to be given only to beautiful mortals, as an insult to God. As far as the book cover, I wanted each of the male characters (vampire and human) to appear together as if they were all locked in battle. This way the reader can picture each character in their mind as well.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I like to keep things “fresh” in my book by always having the reader guess where the story is headed. So that a reader not only becomes interested but also the reader becomes enthralled, almost addicted so the book is thought of as a page-turner.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your Readers?

As with many books, my story has a lot of twists and turns. There is a surprise ending that no one could have predicted, that’s what makes a great ending!

Interview with author Paula Longhurst

Book: Rollover

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

Hi, my name is Paula Longhurst, I’m an author, blogger and bookseller at indie bookstore the King’s English in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was born in the U.K and we moved over to the U.S just after we got married. I’ve been writing for a long time but being around authors and meeting so many of them encouraged me to start a local writing group and gave me the discipline to complete stories and get them published.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘Rollover’ book?

I wrote Rollover back in 2007 and the key challenge was finding an editor and an agent that loved the book as much as I did. I was lucky to find both but as we started shopping the manuscript to publishers. I kept writing and completed a trilogy (‘Thunderball’ and the spectacularly named ‘Miss Scarlet in the Library with the Lead Piping’), this led to an offer of a three-book deal which we accepted and which, unfortunately, went nowhere. I published a different trilogy with Open Flame starting in 2017 which led to Rollover finally being published last year.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

I’ve loved mysteries and spy thrillers since the age of 10 when I grew tall enough to reach my dad’s bookshelf. Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, Earl Stanley Gardener, Ian Fleming, Eric Ambler I was hooked. On top of that I’d started reading the gently homicidal works of Agatha Christie and I’d say she is still a big influence.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

I’m a country girl but London is where I feel most at home. It’s a kaleidoscope of experiences and so full of history and mythology. You can walk past a soaring modern skyscraper and around the corner there’s a 15th century church complete with bells. My favorite walks are close to the Thames.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

I know some writers who plan out the entire book before they write a word that is so not me. I have a general idea and a couple of main characters and when I need to do research it’s done as I’m writing. This sometimes coincides with a trip to see family, or I’ll use Google Earth and webcams which helps with grounding the story in time and place.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘Rollover’ book?

The first draft came together pretty fast as I wrote it during NanoWrimo (November is National Novel Writing Month – this is a yearly competition where the prize is a finished manuscript.) the editing and subsequent drafts took about another couple of years

Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘Rollover’ book to buy?

Rollover (and the sequel Thunderball) can be ordered in paperback from all Independent Bookstores (please shop local wherever possible) The bookstore where I work has copies in stock ready to ship through our web shop.(www.kingsenglish.com)

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Rollover’ ?

The title for Rollover comes from the U.K national lottery, which is the organization Nikki Doyle works for in the books. A ‘rollover’ is a jackpot that isn’t won and rolls over to the next week. The book cover shows a scene from Rollover. I have been fortunate enough to be closely involved in the process of cover design which is one of the benefits of working with a smaller publisher.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I do that by asking if a) I’m feeling bored during rereads because if I’m bored, then the reader will be too b) by asking myself ‘What if’ e.g. what if my protagonist did x, y or z, how would that affect the story? d) promoting a minor character to throw events off course – sometimes that minor character does something unexpected (you’ve heard writers say that the characters write themselves. It’s a rare gift but it does happen.)

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

Well, the village of Storr Downs draws heavily on the place where I grew up and whilst most of the events in the book are fictional, a couple actually did happen…
Also Nikki’s family is based upon my own; although we never did win the football pools and my brother is still very much alive.

Interview with author Levi Rogers

Book: Utah! A Novel

Q1. Hello Sir, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

My name is Levi Rogers. I am a writer and former coffee roaster currently based in Portland, Oregon where I live with my wife and two daughters. I have been writing for over ten years, but this is my first novel.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing Utah! A Novel?

This was my debut novel so everything was new to me. Creating a plot and characters to sustain an entire novel was a challenge, as well as putting the final touches on everything and polishing it up so that everything connected and flowed and read perfectly.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Dave Eggers was an early influence on me. I liked his energy and humor. Also the more “classical” works of people like Cormac McCarthy, Vonnegut, DFW, all the Russian writers from Nabokov to Tolstoy. Then I was influenced by a lot of great women writers like Anne Lamott, Lidia Yuknavitch, Maggie Nelson, Karen Russell, Annie Dillard, and Leslie Jamison. Right now I’m loving some George Saunders, Rumaan Alam, Mitchell S. Jackson, and Kiese Laymon.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

Two of my favorite spots to visit are Zion National Park and Yellowstone National Park. And they’re both in the book! That’s how much I love them. I enjoy the National Parks of the U.S. and these two feel vast and special to me, otherwordly almost.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

My process is actually to just start writing and let the words and characters take me where they want to go. I lived in Utah for eight years and so I considered this most of my “research.” But I prefer to just write and be surprised at where the novel is going. Although next time I might outline a tiny bit more, ha! I learned a lot about writing through this project and have a much better feel for what works now and what readers in particular are looking for when they sit down to read a book.

Q6. How long did it take you to write Utah! A Novel?

The novel took me five years to write. I started it in 2015 and finished it in 2020.

Q7. On what platforms readers can find Utah! A Novel book to buy?

Utah! A Novel is on Barnes and Noble, Bookshop, and my own website! https://levirogersisafraud.com/

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title Utah! A Novel?

I wanted the title to reflect the almost anthropological way in which I approached this novel, which was like an introduction to the state of Utah itself. I thought an exclamation point was kinda funny and would make it seem more exciting than it really was. I also wanted the cover to be like a vintage postcard from the state from fifty years ago. Shout out to Beste M. Dogan from Atmosphere Press for the design!

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Hmm, that’s a great question. One thing I’ve heard is that if you’re not having fun as the writer, then your reader probably isn’t having fun either. Now, that’s not to say that all of writing is fun. Most of it is tedious and can be a drag or slog to get through certain aspects and set things up and all the blocking, etc. But I also tried to keep it fresh in that I wanted to try to write something that had no pre-ordained outline or formula to it. Which ended up being both good and bad. I found out there’s a reason why people stick to certain formulas and pacing and plots for books, ha!

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

I would say that while the novel is a slow burn there are some very exciting, surprising, and explosive things that happen in the end, and you’ll be glad you finished the novel once you do!

Interview with author Christian Ballenger

Book: All Man All Amazing

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

My name is Christian Ballenger. I am a pastor and worship leader currently residing in Chicago, IL but originally from Detroit, Michigan. My upbringing was shaped by the absence of a father as well as a mother who battled mental illness; this all the while navigating the adverse circumstances presented by inner city living. Truly, it was my faith in Jesus Christ which allowed me to persevere. I started a relationship with Jesus at age 10, after attending a youth choir rehearsal in a small church on the west side of Detroit. It was there where I cultivated a love for music ministry. In 2007, I came to Chicago, where I earned a BA in Mass Communication from Saint Xavier University and entered full-time ministry. My heart is for everyone to have their own personal encounter with Jesus, which led me to pen my first book, “All Man All Amazing,” presenting Jesus as our consummate role model. I am happily married to Heidi and together we have a beautiful son, Marshall, and daughter, Courtney.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘All Man All Amazing’ book?

The key challenge I faced while writing was staying disciplined. Because of my responsibilities as a husband, father and pastor, I took to writing in the very early hours of the morning. In essence, if I did not wake up at 4am, I did not write.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Andy Stanley’s “Irresistible” was actually very influential, with regards to writing style as well as theological presentation. John Ortberg’s “Who Is This Man?” and N.T. Wright’s “The Challenge of Jesus” were foundational to my understanding and appreciation for Jesus, as well as how to intelligently and accessibly convey his glory and humanity.

Q4. What’s your favorite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

I love visiting Lake Michigan. It is beautiful and I have so many memories there; most of them are from my first two years of marriage with my wife.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

There are quite a few things to consider, but not so much that you neglect starting! Having an end goal in mind and a roadmap of how to get there is essential – you will save a lot of time and energy clarifying this at the onset.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘All Man All Amazing’ book?

I was writing and editing for close to a year-and-a-half.

Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘All Man All Amazing’ book to buy?

“All Man All Amazing” can be found at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Apple Books and many other digital retailers.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘All Man All Amazing’ ?

The title was meant to convey how truly special Jesus is while also identifying him with the everyday man. I wanted the cover to reflect this, making it appealing specifically to male readers but inviting enough for women to want to read.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

If my ideas, impulses and findings are food, and my pen cookware, I try to serve things on the platter of the page while it is hot.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

If you do not know much about Jesus, much of what is written will unveil who he is and what is possible when you decide to follow him.

Interview with author Françoise Maurer

Book: Breakfast At Jupiter

Q1. Please introduce yourself so that the readers will get to know you better.

Hello! I’m a 15 year old girl from Bedfordshire, UK and my aim has always to make my hobby apart of my career and now I’m finally on my way to doing so! At the moment, I’m doing my GCSE’s and have decided to take 4 subjects I’m really interested in; Art, French, Philosophy and History.

Q2. What is your inspiration behind your book “Breakfast at Jupiter”?

Well the reason I started writing the first story of ‘Breakfast at Jupiter’ was because I was planning on entering it in to a competition where the theme was space, which is a topic I’ve always been fascinated by. I then realised the website I submitted my story to had disappeared and I’m still confused to this day about that. However, I continued with this idea of three sisters going on adventures and thats how the other three stories came about.

Q3. What are your hobbies apart from writing?

My main hobbies aside from writing would have to be anything to do with music. Writing it, playing it on my piano, writing about it, or even just listening to the charts on the tv every weekend. Apart from music though, I enjoy playing tennis with my parents – which I did a lot in the summer holidays.

Q4. Are you planning to write your next book soon?

I am already writing my second book, and have been for a long time. It’s just a very slow process at the moment. It’ll definitely be a more middle grade/ teen novella type of book. There also won’t be several stories in one like there is with ‘Breakfast at Jupiter’ but I’m thinking that I may perhaps do a sequel, though it’s still too early to tell.

Q5. For which age group your book “Breakfast at Jupiter” is suitable?

It was extremely hard deciding on an age group for ‘Breakfast at jupiter’ since I had to take in to consideration the language, the themes and what me and my friends read at each age. The terminology I used made me think it would suit older children (9-11), but the ideas and characters made me have 6-8 as the official age, although I honestly believe any child from ages 5-12 could read it (or have it read to them) depending on their reading ability and what their interests are.

Q6. What is your favorite Quote?

“Good taste is the enemy of creativity” – Pablo Picasso

Q7. What makes your city special?

I live in quite a big town in Bedfordshire, England which isn’t a city but it’s quite close to London. While I’m not sure if there is anything special to me about it and I’d liek to move to London when I’m older, there aren’t many towns or small cities near me that I’d like to live in other than where I live. Some of the buildings are lovely and it has a lot of history to it.

Q8. What suggestion you want to give to parents of little readers regarding a reading habit?

I would recommend trying to find books across all children’s book genres for them to read, and then focus on a few that have really seemed to interest them, whether it be adventure and poetry, or fairytales and non-fiction. Find out whether they like to read out loud, be read to or if they just like reading to themselves in their head.

Q9. What does literary success look like to you?

To me, literary success is writing and publishing books that are fascinating to you and your audience, whilst also finding a job in the literary work field that you enjoy. For me personally, I’d love to carry on writing books and also work in an area of journalism maybe, plus I’m glad I’ve still got some time ahead of me to fully decide.

Q10. Lastly, who is your inspiration in life and why?

I never really think about who my inspiration is, but I would have to say my parents. Not only have they inspired me in terms of hard work, resilience and creativity, they have also encouraged me to do something I really enjoy and wanted to do, which is writing.

June Dillinger is an Inspirational Speaker and Life Facilitator whose gifts lie in her ability to guide others so that they can live abundantly and be happy. Adopt- ed at birth she grew up in La Jolla, California, where she was cherished by her parents, a physical therapist who met her physician father when he was being treated for his paraplegia. Even though that family dissolved, through divorce and remarriage, through birth and life and death, June’s extended and expanded families have enriched her understanding of the dynamics of love.
June has been blessed with the ability to see the true inner beauty of the human spirit, despite outer appearances. June moved to Hawaii and has resided on Oahu for over 30 years. Hosting the television show “It’s All About Love,” has allowed her to interview a multitude of inspiring thought-leaders over the years. As a presenter, she is able to captivate audiences with her unique background and inviting message for all ages. Her uplifting message transcends the static of our digital age and rises over the roar of the crowd. Her topics tug on the heart- strings of the human condition by speaking directly to the emotional well-being of her audience members. Her heartfelt stories and wisdom are grounded in the fact that we must face our own connections with each other, with the divine, and most importantly within ourselves. Self-Love is slowly diminishing in our Western culture and June is on a mission to change that. Her book “The Benefit of the Ex” teaches us how to remember to let go of the past, and that every- thing in life–good and bad– is setting us up for our own comeback story.

Several things became challenging during the coarse of writing this book. First, the pressure I received from people over the LONG 14 years to hurry up and complete it. I knew there was a message and I also knew it had to be clear in order for people to grow if they were to pick up my book. I waited life out as the book unfolded within me so I could share in a way that would be uncomplicated and useful at the same time. Part of the struggle was having created 3 different manuscripts over time, lead me to blend and create what the book is today and this was no easy task at all.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Self-help books have always been a go to for me. In no particular order a few of my most favorite and impactful, in no particular order…

1. Teach Only Love by Jerry Jampolsky

2. Real Love by Greg Baer
3. The Values Factor by Dr. John Demartini
4. Hard Optimism by Price Pritchett
5. Awareness by Anthony De Mello
6. Spiritual Economics by Eric Butterworth
7. Way Of The Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman
8. Get Happier & Heathier Now by Ell Graniel
9. Way of Mastery by Jeshua ben Joseph

La Jolla, California is my favorite place to visit. I grew up there on Mt. Soledad and have so many childhood memories.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

No. Let the book come to you, the rest will follow as it needs to. Allowing the ideas to flow so what is coming through your exposes itself to be what you are desiring to create.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘The Benefits of the “Ex”: Making Love Visible When Everything Changes’ book?

14 years

Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘The Benefits of the “Ex”: Making Love Visible When Everything Changes’ book to buy?

Amazon, Barnes & Noble, your local books seller and order for you. The ISBN is open.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘The Benefits of the “Ex”: Making Love Visible When Everything Changes’ ?

My former husband handed me a monthly check and I said, “there are so many benefits to an ex” and from there the first half of the title came into creation. He said I could take the idea and book all the way to Oprah!
I also knew a self help book had to have an “ing” creating movement for a reader to grow. Not sure how this would form up, it came one day to me. A friend hopped out of my car and said, “June, you make love visible where ever you go”. I became still with the thought and with time, began to understand that it was just that, making love visible, that was important, especially when everything changes and with that the rest of the book fell into order. It was really miraculous!

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Fresh often means introducing new alternatives of thinking in order for different ways to living occur. The book offers this by way of what one might call exercises. I call them “invitations”, not required but certainly well worth looking at for ones self to grow and change.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

Let it rub you the wrong way and be willing to look at it with non-judgment. See that it just is and ask your Self, do you want to continue feeling this or are you open for change. The secret is, if you already have the book in your hands… you are calling it in now. Go for it. It’s your life, go ahead and get into what is really waiting for you!

Interview with author Ellie Leas

Book: The Adventures of Rhonda Raccoon

Q1. Please Introduce yourself so readers will know you better.

I am a grandmom and love to read to my grandchildren, its so wonderful to have them sit with me while we take adventures through pages of books. I have always loved going to the library and walking through the lanes of shelf after shelf of books. I have always loved reading a good book and wish everyone joy in a great book.

Q2. What was The inspiration behind your book “The Adventures of Rhonda Raccoon.”

I grew up in the country and a mama raccoon was killed and left 3 babies. A neighbor found the babies and took them home to care for them. They put them in a large cage in their basement and fed and cared for them. They were not sure exactly when they would be ready to care for themselves in the wild but found out one day when they came home and they hsd unlocked the cage, opened the basement door and ate all the fish out of their fish tank. I have always been fascinated with how smart raccoons are and I love these little rascals.

Q3. When did you realize you want to be an author of a children’s book?

When my daughter was little I used to tell her stories about animals and nature at bedtime. When a friend heard the stories I would tell she encouraged me to write them down, I was a single mom so it was years before I wrote them in a story that could be published.

Q4. Are you planning to release your next book soon?

I would like to write another book about Rhonda and her friends but at this time I need work on promoting “The Adventures of Rhonda Raccoon.”

Q5. For which age group is your book suitable?

I would say ages 4 to age 10. If there is a parent or grandparent who read to a 4 to 6 year old this is a wonderful adventure for little ones.

Q6. What is my favorite quote?

“Do what you love and the money will follow.”

Q7. What do you like most about your country?

I love how the country changes as you go from state to state, the terrain and the people change. The food changes as you travel coast to coast and south to north. I spent many years working on phones talking to people all over America and hearing their stories. Also the animal world changes as you travel through each state. The way America changes is what helped create my book.

Q8. What suggestions you want to give to parents of little readers regarding reading habit.

I suggest finding books that interest the children and pick a time each week where you can sit down and spend 15 to 20 minutes reading and exploring what interests them. If there is a special subject like, dinosaurs pick books that can teach and also give a great story. Then you can find parks with dinosaurs to visit.

Q9. What does literary success look like to you?

Success would be people reading the book, loving the story and then tell their friends and family about it and they buy the book. Seeing the book on bookshelves for children to pick when they want a magical adventure. Also I would love to sell a million copies,

Q10. Lastly who is your inspiration in life and why?

My grandfather would be my inspiration, he started out with nothing and built a very successful business. He was a very talented stone mason and landscaper. He also was a family man and grew a huge vegetable garden that grew the best tomatoes, I still miss them to this day.
