Hey! I’m Candice Janet, ‘Carly Jane Garner’ is my pseudonym. I’m 18, and I grew up in Zimbabwe but I live in Northern Ireland. I’m currently studying ‘Criminology, Business Studies and Film Studies’ for A-Levels and would love to pursue a career in Law.
Q2. What is the significance of the title “Stumbling in the Debris”?
The title is inspired by the lyrics from the song, ‘Love is a stranger by The Eurythmics’. I felt like the song related to the characters’ love story and it describes their feelings. The word ‘DEBRIS’ is in bold throughout the novel because the characters are stumbling in the debris of each others’ love. It shows a journey of people who miss something they already have.
Q3. What are your favourite part and least favorite part of the publishing journey?
I enjoy the wait for the book to finally appear online, those hours before you see everything come together. It’s an amazing feeling. However, editing is the most difficult part. I find it hard to edit because the more I read the manuscript the more I need to change things and it’s a never ending cycle.
Q4. What are your hobbies apart from reading or writing?
I love trying new recipes and baking.
Q5. Which is your favorite season to write in and why?
Definitely winter, there’s something about writing with your hot chocolate on the side.

Q7. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a fashion designer.
Q8. Please tell readers something about your book “Stumbling in the Debris”.
It’s partly based on my best friends’ experiences as a Muslim girl. We both came up with the idea during a study period at school, and it turned into a book. The message of the novel is to show society that teenagers have more depth and they are misunderstood.
Q9. Can you share something your readers don’t know about you?
I’m a singer and songwriter too.
Q10. Lastly, who inspires you the most and why?
I love Siobhan Davis and Stephanie Meyer. But I’m mostly inspired by my past experiences and music. Writing is the only way I can express myself.

Hi everyone. I am Steve, living here in Cambridge near my three grown-up children and my Westie dog. I am originally from Liverpool, but life has taken me to many parts of the UK and the world. I would say that I am well-travelled, and I enjoy new experiences in life. Being a Writer and Author is a new experience for me, and like all new experiences at times it seems daunting, but once I realise that it is my dream then I realise that I have found my purpose in life and am at a very happy point!
Q2). What is the most surprising thing you discovered while writing a book?
Most of our waking lives we spend thinking about stuff. People tend to do what they think they should do rather than what they really want to do in life, forced into things by the need to earn money! I chose the type of work that I did whilst I was forming my books, in order to be able to write. It was hard, but the most surprising thing I discovered was that I could do it, and I did it!
Q3). What inspired you to write your book?
Each story, or muse, or poem has its own inspiration. I write about real people and real events, and I find that it is people who inspire me! I always think that if you can find inspiration in your mundane world then that is a key, or a cornerstone to a happy path!
Q4). What are your hobbies apart from reading or writing?
My life can get a bit stressful at times as I try to do too much at once. I must constantly remind myself to focus on one thing and do it well. That goes for my main hobby, which is fishing. I can always find some kind of inner peace whilst gone fishing, and of course I have my memories of my father and his great pals and our fishing trips. These days I go with my son, George! I always played football, up until recently, and I do miss playing sport, but I am always active in the garden or walking the dog and carrying fishing tackle from the car to the river can turn out to be a weightlifting experience!
Q5). What was your favourite part of the publishing journey?
I absolutely love editing. I love to get everything correct and perfect. Until you do it you would not realise just how complex a paragraph is. When I am editing mistakes jump out at me from the page. Now that I am here, I am enjoying the marketing stage. My background is in Sales and Marketing in the Pharmaceutical industry, and I have an MBA. I have had an interesting life, and I am enjoying getting to know and understand the ‘Book World’. One thing that I like is that ‘Book People’ absolutely love books!
Q6). Are you from a literary background?
Not at all. I consider myself to be lucky in life. I grew up in Liverpool in a poor social family that was joining the new middle classes. I went to Grammar School, and I saw glimpses of the ‘good life’, but I can always remember my mum and dad working seven days a week to make my life possible. I like to thing that I am naturally literary, and I always wanted to be a Writer. I remember writing my Autobiography at school aged eleven. I still have it. I suppose, now, I am beginning to see the big picture, literature is not just about words on paper, but a whole world of people all with that same ‘love of books’ thing!
Q7). How is life in Cambridge?
Life, most of the time, now, is relatively comfortable. It has been hard to get to this point, but now I can begin to enjoy it. Cambridge is cosmopolitan and steeped in history and acidaemia. It has two faces, the colleges and the real people that has a strong London influence. I love it and I love the breadth of choice of things to do and most of all different people and cultures to see!
Q8). Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I am currently writing a sequel to Philosophical Muse, which is my daily fodder, since I can write and complete a poem, or story, or muse in a day! I am also working on two novels. One is autobiographical and at times I feel like I will never finish it! The second is about internet love fraud, called ‘The Poet and The Whores’, and is again a true story written as ‘Real Fiction’. I also have a few more projects which will culminate in books. So, in five years I hope that people have a full picture of me as I stand as a Poet and Writer with the trappings of success associated in the industry, and as someone who needs to be listened to!
Q9). When did you first realise you wanted to be an author?
I have always dreamed romantically of being a Writer. The Beatle’s record, ‘Paperback Writer’ holds special significance for me, as I am sure it does for millions of people. I was a Sixties child, and I can remember that feeling of excitement at that time. Artists were springing out and a rebirth in culture was beginning. I always knew that I wanted to be an Author from then, and I look at my life sometimes as a kind of hindrance to that purpose, but I always end up saying to myself in my philosophical way, ‘but if I had not have experienced that then I would not know and I would not be able to write about it!’ I like the fact that it is happening now that I am older, as I think I understand it more!
Q10). Lastly, who inspires you the most and why?
My two most inspirational figures are John Lennon and David Bowie. I think Lennon’s stuff is obvious and I think I am very similar to him. After all, all we really need is love! I just love David Bowie as an artist. His lyrics and performance are amazing and if there is one dude, I want to copy on stage it is David! But perhaps the biggest thing I learned from him is that completing a project is not about getting up at 8am every day and eating breakfast, completing a project is about doing what it takes in order to get it done! That takes sacrifice whatever way you look at it, but in terms of Writing nothing compares to being an Author and looking at your own book and what it means to you!
Never Take Your Life by Shirley Ann Rich is a self-help book. This book is for readers who are suicidal, into depression or know someone like that around themselves. Through this book, author is sharing the information with readers that will help them to prevent suicide. Shirley has started this book by sharing the emergency steps that can help to stop suicide.
Sometimes wealth can cause us to feel lonely. That loneliness contribute to the desire to commit suicide. So, we should have a good listener who could help us to come out of our issues/tension. When Shirley’s second husband and daughter committed suicide, she was determined to gain much knowledge on suicide and the reasons behind it. She has written this book from her own experiments and experiences and therefore is the right person to guide others on this topic.
Language used in the book is lucid. Title of the book couldn’t have been more appropriate. Cover photo is nice. This is a self-help memoir in which author has shared about her own experiences and tips to prevent suicide. Content shared in the book is to the point. It’s an insightful read. I gained some knowledge from this book and I am glad to get my hands on it. Go ahead with it. It’s worth reading.
Predator & Prey penned by the author Mallikarjun B. Mulimani is the first book that I have read by Mallikarjun. Story features a red-haired old man, a globe-trotter with emerald-green eyes who has maintained a black and white diary throughout his active life. The old man has three imaginary companions: the moth, the chameleon and the eagle. He has done his best in life and now he doesn’t have any regrets as he approaches the death.
In this story, life is looked as a complementary contrast: predator and prey, black and white. We got to read old man’s below diary entry he wrote at the time of his parents separation:
“Man and Woman are predators, preying on each other because of lust and desire for gold”.
As the story progresses, readers get to read more and more entries from his diary. Some of the sentences were repetitive in the book. Those who love philosophy and adventures surely gonna enjoy this book. Writing style of author is simple. I was able to finish this book in a single sitting. Cover photo of the book looks nice and title is appropriate. It is a thought provoking read to me.
Unethical Achievers penned by the author Nitin Sisodia is a book with unique storyline. Story features two middle class boys from a small town ShanGuang in China who adopted shortcuts and unethical ways to make money. One of this teenager belonged to the majority Han community and the other belonged to minority Uyghur Muslim community.
Jian Han met Tomur Uyghur in the secondary school. Both of them belonged to different Chinese communities, yet their friendship began on the first day they met. Tomur was in love with Tabby (a girl from other community), Yiang’s sister. Jian arranged a meeting for Tabby and Tomur. Tomur was thankful to Jian as because of him, he had kiss the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. Grab a copy of this novel and find out what happens as the two teenagers get involved together in business.
Story is full of action, drama, emotions, competition, friendship, envy, betrayal, etc. Language of the book is easy to follow. Cover photo is nice and title of the book is suitable. I haven’t read much books that are set in China but this one I enjoyed reading. Author’s writing style is nice and this storyline is impressive. Go ahead with this book.
Dream Recurring penned by the author Mark Canniff is a paranormal fiction. Story is set in a small town called Island River. There are two main characters in this story: Lucy Blakely and Samantha Howard. Both Lucy and Sam are good friends and love each other like sisters. They do a business as a Psychic/Medium and have uncovered most of the part of Island River.
Whenever they work on investigating any case as paranormal investigators, they keep the identity of their clients as hidden. Recently they have received a case where they have named their clients as Liz, Peter and the kids as Luke and Tina to protect their identity. Liz was the first to experience the occurrences. Sam and Lucy went to the house to investigate. They set up cameras and devices to track the ghost. When they heard a thump later, they discovered about a woman Katheryn. Grab a copy of this novel and find out yourself what happens next.
This book reminded me of the movie Conjuring that had paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine. I read this novel after midnight and the story is spooky. I have to sleep with lights on. Cover photo of the book is well designed. Writing style of author is nice and I was easily able to follow the entire story. Plot of the story is gripping and it kept me on the edge the whole time until I finished this book. If you love reading horror stories then don’t miss to pick this book.
“Philosophical Muse and Stuff ‘N’ Nonsense” is a poetry book penned by the author Stephen Peter Oldham. In this poetry book, author has tried to address modern day problems with the help of a poetry and muse. One of my favorite from the collection is Money.
Easy come,
Easy go,
Rich or poor,
We all have to walk through the same door.
All of my life I’ve thought I cannot do anything without it!
Like a drug that feeds my empty soul,
Dependent upon wanting and lust,
It freaks me out the stuff!
Language used in the book is lucid. Even if you are not an avid poetry reader, you would be easily able to follow the meaning of poems and muses. The topics mentioned in this book are relatable. Below question from the muse painkillers is an eye opener. From now onwards, I will develop a habit to bear the pain and will not swallow a painkiller as now I know its harmful effects.
“Is life so unbearable that the people cannot get through a day without their little pill to kill the pain?”
Author has shared great content in this book and I am glad to get my hands on it. Readers gonna be delighted to read poetry, muses and stories that are part of this book. This is a thought provoking read. So, don’t rush finishing the entire book in a single sitting. Instead, I like to recommend readers to read few pages at a time, analyze and reflect on whatever they have read. This is a kinda book that fit perfectly to my reading taste. I enjoyed every bit of this book and I like to strongly recommend it to my fellow readers. It’s worth reading.
“I Am Awesome” is a Children’s Book written by the author Patricia Brioux and illustrated by Floyd Yamyamin. This is an amazing book that motivates the kids to recognize their self-worth. Positive affirmations play an important role in our life. If we keep on saying positive words to ourselves, we feel inspired.
Some of the positive affirmations from the book that we should practice daily are: I am KIND, I am HAPPY, I am STRONG, etc.
Pretty illustrations made the pages of this book more lively. Cover photo is nice and title of the book couldn’t have been more appropriate. I like to strongly recommend this book for little readers.
“Goodbye Earth” is a children’s book written by Scott Andrew Kerfoot and illustrated by Weiwei Xu.
Story features a fox who is saying Goodbye to Earth and all his dear friends. He even said goodbye to his parents. Go through this heart touching story to know where the fox is actually going and how his friends are giving farewell to him?
The best thing that I love about this book is that it is short yet emotional as it’s very well depicted that how difficult it is to say goodbye to your loved ones. What a wonderful story! It is full of beautiful colors and deep emotions! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I am definitely interested to read more books by the author.
