“The Kitten That Could Not Meow” is a Children’s book written by the author LoLisa Marie Monroe. The story features five kittens mixed in colors, sizes and even in their ears. Momma Kitty took care of them and when they were old enough, the kittens were ready to go to new homes.

Soon, different children visited the kittens to adopt them. Momma Kitty was happy with all the children who adopted her kittens. However, she was worried because her one little orange kitten couldn’t meow. Read this story to know if any children would adopt the kitten who couldn’t meow.

This is a wonderful story. It teaches a lesson to the kids and adults that their disability doesn’t define them. This story also teaches kids that each of us are unique and special in our own way. The writing style of the author is nice. The cover photo is eye-catching and the title of the book is suitable.

This story has touched my heart and I loved every bit of it. This book is for readers of the age group 3-11 years.

Recently I got my hands on Paula Stahel’s book “Undone: A Novel of Betrayal”. The main character of the story is Lydia Casselberry. She was shocked to find out that her husband Gil was having an affair. Gil and Lydia have been married for thirty-seven years and she doesn’t have any idea for how long her husband has been cheating her. She flew from her Tampa home so she could be alone and give a thought to her next decision.

She left a note to her best friend and another note to her husband mentioning that she is fine and needs time to decide whether she wants a divorce or could live with him. When Lydia found out about the PD through a website, what would she do? She was shocked to know that Marielle and Gil have been members for four years.

Read this story to see Lydia walking down memory lane and remembering her earlier days with Gil. The writing style of the author is nice. The story is engaging and you won’t feel like putting it down once you start reading it. Those who enjoy reading stories of betrayal, revenge, friendship, etc should get their hands on this book. Lydia’s character is written well by the author. I am delighted to read this story of betrayal.

The title of the book “A Family of Strangers” excited me to pick this book. William Osei is a family service specialist at Bambin Adoption and Foster Agency. At the agency, there was a ten-year-old boy named Bobby. At the age of ten, Bobby has already been in twenty foster homes. His different foster parents always dropped him back at the agency and he moved from one foster home to another.

Finally, William decided to adopt him. Soon, Bobby started warming up to him. One day, William was visited by a woman named Sarah. Sarah told him her entire story of being raped and how Bobby was left at the foster agency. Read this book to know will Bobby ever get to know the truth of Sarah and his biological father.

This is a unique story. I loved every bit of it. The writing style of the author is nice. This book would warm up your heart towards foster children. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for a child to go to different foster homes. I loved William’s character the most. The title of this book is suitable according to the contents. It would be amazing to explore more books by the author in the future.

It’s the first time that I have got my hands on a screenplay and I am impressed by the work of the authors Rob Nelson & Brian M. Wixson.

On April 29, 1863, during the American Civil War, a regiment of Confederate soldiers was charged with protecting hundreds of gold coins throughout the war as payroll for the troops. A choking black shroud prevented them from defending the fort or themselves, and all the soldiers were killed.

Every year, in the town of Southern Cross, Memorial Day is celebrated to pay respects to their hometown heroes.

This year, a tourist named Dan Cronenberg visited the town of Southern Cross for the Confederate Memorial Day celebration. The mayor requested him to tell everyone that Lt. Cronenberg was his ancestor, and he has come to honor him. While everyone was occupied with the celebrations, the black smoke rose from their tomb and started to swirl around and prevented the townspeople from moving or escaping. The regiment had come back from the dead and could be seen in the smoke. Soon, there was chaos everywhere. How would the townspeople fight back against an Undead evil bent on revenge.

“The Unknown Face: A memoir of marriage, mental illness, and the search for why” by Gregory Duncan takes readers on an emotional journey. This memoir details the lives of Greg and his wife, Rachel, in a modern college town in Virginia. Despite having his own red flags in their relationship, Greg became engaged to Rachel.

Balancing his roles as a husband, musician, and second-year teacher with a forty-minute commute, Greg found himself losing a part of his identity. The couple sought marriage therapy to address their emotional disconnect. Their therapist advised Rachel should learn to not push so hard and Greg needed to learn to respond better to those pushes. However, implementing these changes proved challenging for them. This poignant narrative explores how Rachel’s tragic suicide profoundly affected Greg.

Duncan’s raw and gripping writing highlights the importance of open communication and mental health awareness in today’s hectic world. This heart-wrenching story is a powerful reminder to prioritize our well-being and that of our loved ones. I am deeply moved by Greg’s candid sharing of his painful experience.

“The Official Black Book Black Index” penned by The Kingzman is a gripping read. In this book, the author has written about sexual experiences with different women. The women featured include the wealthy, the submissive, the sexually deviant, the sexually experienced, and the inexperienced.ย

“The Mommy Returns” is a story about a woman with a big ass who works part-time at the brothel. Because of her free time, she was willing to invest her time in Daddy. The Daddy made the Mommy crave for him by withholding sex from Mommy. The Mommy was given time to prepare herself for the anal sex. Read this story to know will the Daddy let the Mommy go deep physically.

DFS versus DBKS is a story about two women DFS and DBKS. DFS once told Daddy that she is his cousin’s mama. After thinking about it, Daddy finally banged her harder but the problem was that DFS got attached and insecure for Daddy. DBKS is a woman who hasn’t sexually experienced much in her life. She needed to be brought out of her shell. How will things go with DBKS?

I enjoyed reading other stories too. The Portal Pleaser and The Irish Emerald are also my favorites from the collection. This book is a unique read with unique stories. This book is only for adult readers with an open mind. I am grateful to the author for including a dictionary at the beginning. It was helpful. Those who are comfortable reading mature content would enjoy these stories. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book.

Interview with author B.L. Bruce

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

A1. My name is Bri Bruce, writing under the name B. L. Bruce, and I am an award-winning poet and two-time Pushcart prize nominee from California. I hold a bachelorโ€™s degree in literature and creative writing from the University of California at Santa Cruz, with work that has appeared in dozens of anthologies, magazines, and literary publications. My poetry has most recently appeared in The Lakeshore Review, Red Wolf Journal, Bivouac Magazine, The Sunlight Press, Riverstone Literary Journal, and Gone Lawn, among many others, with haiku widely and internationally published. Blue California Sky is my fifth book and first collection of prose poetry. When I am not writing, I am curating the literary magazine Humana Obscura and work as a marketing director in the renewable energy industry.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing your book “Blue California Sky”?

A2. Blue California Sky was an emotional book to write, but it was also very therapeutic. It is very raw, and based on my own experiences during the pandemic as a follow up of sorts to my last book Measures. I was struggling with my own mental health as well as with insomnia. The constant barrage of terrible news, both in my personal circle and of the state of the world, was weighing heavily on me. I have certainly channeled my emotions into this work, and have found that readers are relating to the more universal themes I touch on in this collection.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

A3. Having studied post-modern American literature with a poetry concentration in college, I was introduced to a number of poets that were part of the Beat movement. Writers like Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and Richard Brautigan influenced a lot of my early writing but it wasnโ€™t until the end of my schooling and in my early adulthood years that I found my readerโ€™s niche in nature poetry. Gary Young, a prose poet, former Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County, and a former professor of mine at UC Santa Cruz, first introduced me to prose poetry. Mary Oliver isโ€”and will always beโ€”at the top of my list as far as authors whose writing influence and inspire my work. I discovered and continue to enjoy the work of May Sarton, Maude Meehan, Ellen Bass, and Robert Hass. Iโ€™ve also come to enjoy the work of haikuists and short-form poets like Issa, Basho, Tu Fu, and Li Po, among others, which has me experimenting with the American haiku form, and I am currently working on a book of haiku.

Q4. Whatโ€™s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

A4. There are so many beautiful places in the US, many of which I have yet to visit. So much of my work is rooted in the place Iโ€™ve lived my whole life in California, and I am fortunate enough to live somewhere where people from all over the world visit. It holds a special place in my heart, as it has for generations of my family before me, and I donโ€™t see leaving any time soon. My whole life is here, family and friends, and anchored by the natural beautyโ€”the ocean, mountains, countryside, and wildlife that heavily influence my work.

Q5. What inspired you to write the book ‘Blue California Sky’?

A5. The biggest driver for this latest collection was my need to channel my own emotions and experience into something during the early days of the pandemic, in a way that was different from Measures. The challenge of writing in a new form also helped propel this collection forward.

Q6. How long did it take you to write your book ‘Blue California Sky’?

A6. I wrote Blue California Sky over the course of a year or so while I was also writing my last book Measures. While it is a short collection, it was very intentionally written and I took my time to edit and perfect it before submitting to publishers.

Q7. On what platforms can readers buy your books?

A7. Blue California Sky is available for pre-order on Finishing Line Pressโ€™s website: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/blue-california-sky-by-b-l-bruce/

After its release in October, it will be available on Amazon and a few other select booksellers. My other books can all be found on Amazon.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Blue California Sky’?

A8. The title is an amalgamation of several phrases taken from multiple pieces included in the collection. There is also a stark contrast between the title and the bookโ€™s subject matter and themes. Contrary to what the title might lead readers to believe, it is not all blue sky and sunshine, though California and its natural landscapes and life give the collection its sense of place and provide a grounding, common thread.

The artwork on the cover, โ€œEverywhere Blue Sky,โ€ is by talented Cuban American artist Sasha Jimenez French, whose work was featured in the Spring/Summer 2022 issue of Humana Obscura, a literary magazine I curate and publish. I am incredibly grateful for her interest in collaborating on this cover and feel her work was a wonderful fit for the mood of the collection.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

A9. This is my first collection of prose poetry, so that in and of itself is new and fresh for both me and for my readers. Exploring this new form proved to be a welcome challenge and tested my capabilities as a writer and as my own critic and editor. While I still donโ€™t typically write longer-form prose, this collection was a way to very intentionally make the most of each word, saying as much as I can without over-telling and using brevity in a way that is helpful rather than hindering.

This collection is also a little more raw and darker than my typical work and incorporates events that happened during the unprecedented and at times tumultuous early days of the pandemic.

Q10. What is the most valuable piece of advice youโ€™ve been given about writing?

A10. Seek new experiences. Traveling and getting out of my comfort zone are always very creatively triggering for me and gives me a fresh perspective when returning home to where I do most all of my writing. I draw on a lot of personal experience when writing, and whenever I am feeling stuck or am hit with writerโ€™s block, I always come back to this piece of advice.

She Took a Turn: A Memoir of Climbing over Guardrails into Growth” penned by the author Kristi J. Smith is an intriguing memoir. Kristi’s parents Joan and Lloyd raised her as a Christian daughter. When Kristi was born, it was assumed that she would become a Christian, medical doctor.

After growing up, the author still considers herself a Christian but the meaning of this identifier has changed a lot as compared to her childhood. While growing up, Kristi constantly learned from her mother who was there to involve her in different tasks. From the age of twenty-two to thirty, Kristi gained many insights that changed her. Her mother was there with her during her moments of self-discovery. Even though Kristi was raised with conservative values, she found her authentic self through constant self-work.

Those who are fans of memoir should definitely read this book. This book inspires us to embrace authenticity and do self-reflection. I appreciate the author’s choice of title for the book. Those who want to forge a different path would gain great insights from the author’s journey. I appreciate the author for the path she chose to walk and for being so courageous.

“How To Be A Neuro-Affirmative Parent: The Truth About Raising A Neurodivergent Child” penned by the author Hwee Peng Tan is an intriguing read. The author makes readers aware about the definition of โ€œneurodivergentโ€ person. Hwee author has written this book from her own experiences of being a parent to a son who was diagnosed with autism at an early age.ย

The author has highlighted the role of informal mentors and how she found them. Parents of neurodivergent children should be their role model and train their kids so the kids can live independent and fulfilled lives on their own. Hwee suggests we compare ourselves yesterday and today instead of comparing with others.

Positive parenting can help kids to reach their full potential. Hwee is an inspiration to other parents.

This book will help neurodivergent families to spark the potential in their neurodivergent child. I strongly recommend this book to all carers with neurodivergent children. I loved the optimistic nature of the author and the way she focuses on what she has instead of complaining about things she doesn’t have. This book is an insightful read. It has many tips that would make the challenging life journey easy for everyone.

I’m an avid fan of romance novels and recently picked up Charlene Raddon’s ‘Lula Mae.’ The protagonist, Lula Mae, is a compelling character who dresses herself as a boy and hides in a baggage car. However, she was caught by the train authorities. US Marshal Gannon Calloway is alerted to her presence and their encounter begins an intriguing story.

During their conversation, Gannon learns that Lula Mae is the sister-in-law of a man he recently imprisoned. Lula Mae shares how her sister was killed by a man named Bernie, and she must protect herself. The plot becomes more adventurous as Gannon and Lula Mae team up to track down a killer.

The chemistry between Gannon and Lula Mae is captivating, and their bond develops quickly. Raddon does an excellent job with the setting, and the cover design is striking. Both Lula Mae and Gannon are fascinating characters to follow.

Charlene Raddon should definitely continue writing romance novels, and I look forward to her future works.
