Dad in a Cheer Bow is an interesting memoir penned by the author Patrick Riccards. In this book, the author has shared about his experience of coaching a team of tween girls.

Patrick and his wife Jennifer wanted their children to be consistent with something. When they moved from Connecticut to New Jersey, they noticed their daughter Anna’s serious interest in cheerleading. One day, Anna asked if her daddy could be her coach. Even though Patrick didn’t have any idea about cheerleading at that time, he agreed to coach his daughter and the other girls.

Interview with author Arthia Nixon

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

Hello I’m Arthia Nixon and I’m the author of several books in adult, romance, children’s and business genres. I’m a journalist/publicist and mom to an actress. Writing has always been a big part of my life since I was a child. My parents still have stories I wrote at age 4 and 5 and essays and writing awards or newspaper clippings from my childhood. I’m talking boxes of them.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing your book ‘The Bishop’s Beard’?

Whew! The biggest challenge was not to directly name names and to ensure I didn’t identify precise incidents. Because this book was ministry based and I came from a background that had mysic and ministry, alot of people were wondering who it was about. Some people still guessed and I will never say if they guessed correctly. Yes, the book draws from some real incidents and people and when I said I was writing it, the person laughed and said it was perfect. People who know me know that my novels tend to have some real life experiences. I simply never confirm who, what, where, when or why. But I’ve had some people I didn’t even know read my novels who wondered. But it’s all fiction.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

My parents had the task of raising a creative and weird child as their oldest and didnt know wgat to do with me. Writing was my escape from their arguments and other things. However, there were always books and I was told I began reading at age 3. My grandmother Florence Mingo was the reader. She had me on most weekends and I was very advanced in reading and I used to read her Danielle Steele and Harlequin books. She was the first person who would let me read her my own writing books. I remember sitting through a hurricane with her just listening to the wind and writing while she read. My aunt Velma Petty, who is a pastor’s wife and minister of the church I grew up in mostly also ensured I read when I was with her on Sunday. She gave me my first diary to write in and we left it at her house because my mother was the type to just assume I was writing real things. Even at school, I got into trouble for writing instead of taking notes. I didn’t have a favorite genre and had everything from The Babysitters Club to Anne of Green Gables to Stephen King and my grandmother’s Alice in Wonderland and Arabian Nights. My writing today is influenced by my observations, real life and just imagination.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

I am originally from Eleuthera, an island in the Bahamas I am fiercely protective of. Our house is on the beach so that is my most favorite spot in the world. I also love an area along the gulf coast of Florida, and South Carolina. I just sneak off for waterviews and pull out my Tiffany pen that was gifted to me and write by hand.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you dive in and start writing a book?

Not really. I’ve written books in 3 days or a week. I just sometimes see the whole thing in my dreams and write it out, the outline, characters and more and it comes together.

Q6. How long did it take you to write your book ‘The Bishop’s Beard’?

One week. I thought about it and emailed the idea to myself but never had time to write it. I ended up in the hospital due to my illness and wrote it during my rest and recover time.

Q7. On what platforms can readers buy your book ?

Amazon, Payhip.com, ArthiaNixon.com and multiple bookstores and libraries. Google search it. However my mailing list is best for new releases and behind the scenes.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘The Bishop’s Beard’?

I thought the title was very self explanatory but apparently it wasn’t for people who did not know the term. I explained it inside the book. I knew how I wanted my characters to look and when it becomes a film, I already see some things. But the cover l, I put in my graphic designer’s hands and she did a great job.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I’ve been told I have a signature style for plot twists. I don’t intend to keep things fresh. I just tell the story and think I don’t want to make this obvious and let ne think of something I wouldn’t expect of thus character. And it worked. You can’t be afraid to let characters go and you have to learn to end a series or stand alone.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

There are so many secrets! There is the secret as to why Lavinia and her sons never got along and why appearances in church are so important. There’s the secret as to why Judah and Dereka get along so great as a couple and why they fight so hard to not ruin things even though they both have secrets. There’s the secret as to why Shay the goddaughter is so protected and why the father, Bishop Darold was ready to pass along the church to his sons. Church hurt is real. Music ministry has drama. And there is an Alphonso in every church hidden or in plain sight.

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Group Survival Guide penned by the author Darren Weber is a great book that teaches defensive tactics like marksmanship, high speed driving, etc. We often consider survival and disaster the same terms but the author has explained the difference between the two.

Preserving, protecting, conserving, reusing and repurposing are the key principles that one should apply in a survival or a disaster situation. In a disaster situation, one may not have access to a modern-day doctor, so basic health knowledge like treating wounds, treating an infection could save your life or someone else’s life.

I am glad to get my hands on this book. It’s very well written by the author. It’s a unique read. I would suggest to keep this book on your desk and revise the information mentioned in it until it’s fixed in your mind. It’s one of the best books that I have read this year. Go for it. I am sure you would thank me later for the recommendation.

Interview with author Dani Besnard

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

My name is Dani Besnard, and I’m a 23 year old writer, oil painter, animal lover, and an apprentice funeral director and embalmer.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’ book?

Making sure that I kept writing what I wanted to write, without getting too caught up in what others might think or like. Writing what you want to read isn’t always easy when you plan on sharing it with the world.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Sarah. J. Mass and Jennifer L. Armentrout are huge influencers of mine. I also love any and all fantasy movies and animes. Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and the Last Avatar have always been big influences on my love for the themes in my writing of this series of mine.

Q4. What’s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

Probably the mountains, so west Alberta and British Columbia. There’s something close to magical about the mountains for me. It’s going to be a huge influence in the later books in this series. I also love the east coast, so Nova Scotia. I’ve lived there in the past, and the ocean has always been a huge part of my life. It touches my soul. Maybe that’s why the ocean waters and its mysterious depth were a huge part of Shattered Ice and Fury.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

I try and plan out my villain first, that way I can shape the world around it. It’s a lot easier to customize a character when it’s one that has to be a problem for the villain. The other way around has always seemed harder to me.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’ book?

I wrote it in about a year, due to life getting in the way. I took another year to edit and create the final draft.

Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’ book to buy?

Amazon. Google Book. Soon it will also be on Barnes and Noble.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’?

Rage, anger, and anxiety is a theme in my novel, and they are things I have battled with personally. Ice is a more obvious part of the book once you get about a quarter of the way through or so. I would lay in bed and play with these themes in my head to come up with a good title. That one popped up and it simply stuck.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I think I would get bored of writing from a single person’s perspective for an entire book. I get bored easily, and adapt much too quickly. Giving myself the perspective of four characters to play with was a lot of fun, and I can only hope my readers enjoy it. I also have a hard time getting into books if they take too long to get going with the plot, which is why the plot goes off from the very beginning. You start off in one setting, and do a 360 by the end of the first chapter!

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

Well first of all, it’s only the first book of a series. It’s not obvious on the cover, so expect more to come! There isn’t much else I can say beyond that without giving too much away from the book.

“Are you Still in love with Who?” is a short read. It is the second installment in “Who Do You Love?” book series.

The first poem “I’m Still in Love With …. Who?” is a love story. We all imagine a happily ever after but sometimes our loved one is taken away from us and we miss him/her.

Tired of Being Alone is about a person who is tired of being alone. She wants her lover to come home.

Learn how to treat a woman, The Time of my Life, It’s Okay are some of my favorite poems from the collection. I enjoyed reading this poetry book while sitting on my front porch. The poems are short and meaningful.

Those who have been in a relationship would be able to relate well to these poems. I enjoyed reading this anthology. I strongly recommend this book for adult readers. Go for it without any second thoughts.

God’s Calling You To Live A Life That’s True

🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
“God’s Calling You To Live A Life That’s True” is a poetry journal about God’s call for a lost soul. The Man you Sent, Help my Honey, We Won’t Give up, etc are some of the interesting poems from the collection.

Below lines from the poem “A Real Woman” is something I really loved.

A real woman loves,
Her man with the love of God.
A real woman knows,
That pleasing her man is her job.
A real woman prays,
For her man when he’s doing wrong. A real woman lays, It’s down in the kitchen.
A real woman takes,
Good care of that man’s children.

One could connect very well to the emotions expressed in this book. A real woman stays by her man’s side in difficult situations too. This book strengthens my faith in God. If you are also lost, then read this book. You will realize that God is there to help us. The author has mentioned that God’s help will give a green light to our true calling and I strongly believe that.

I am glad to get my hands on this book. The title is suitable. Once I started reading these poems, I couldn’t put this book down. I appreciate the poetic language that the author has used in this book. Looking forward to reading more books by Nicole soon.
