Rootlines is a poetry collection penned by the author Kelsey Day. It is a poetry collection by a queer, neurodivergent woman living in the mountains of Appalachia.

Few of my favorite poems from the collection are: “bread & wine & the body”, morning, afterlife, etc. Pretty illustrations with few poems caught my attention. Below lines from the titular poem “rootlines” are amazing:

beneath the urgent floods
the honeyed stones and braids of chrysalis
beneath the nest of wild grass and shed talons,
the churning beasts are not sleeping.
I spot them on a walk with my family.
my body rushes to fill itself.
roots rumble under the pavement, snarling bike chains
catch between my fingers—see the bent paperbacks, the
flecked lenses, the plunging shortcuts through the trees

Written in 84 pages, this poetry collection could be read in a single sitting. I liked the cover photo of the book and the title is suitable. The poems in this collection are based in place. Through this book, authors has made the readers aware that Appalachia as we know it today has been built on a stolen land. I like to recommend this poetry book to avid poetry lovers.

In My Fathers’ Steps by author Hannibal Muhammad

Book: In My Fathers’ Steps

Author: Hannibal Muhammad

Available On: Amazon

Language: English

Rating: 5/5

“In My Fathers’ Steps” written by the author Hannibal Muhammad is a self-help and spiritual read that motivates readers to deepen their love so they can grow closer to Allah (God).

In this book, author has talked about following the steps of his father and about the connection to Almighty God Allah. Author has also discussed about how we have taken the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as a joke! Even though we become scholars, we can’t compete on the level of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

“I loved the below quote from this book:
We have to make a perfect family. And it starts with perfect love and total commitment.” ~~The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

Furthermore, by taking the teachings of Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as a joke, we don’t get the blessings and we get “Curse for Disobedience”.

Cover photo of the book is nice. Title is suitable. This is infact a spiritual memoir in which author has shared events from his own life. It’s a worth reading book. I enjoyed every bit of it and I came across various teachings in this book. I like to recommend this book to my fellow brothers and sisters.
