His Name Was Quincy by Keisha Green

Book: His Name Was Quincy

Author: Keisha Green

Illustrated By: Josian Rodriguez

Language: English

Rating: 4.5/5

I love reading Children’s Book. Recently I got my hands on this book written by the author Keisha Green and illustrated by Josian Rodriguez. Quincy is a hero for his younger brother Tyrique. When Tyrique saw his big brother’s picture on TV showing some old photo of his brother with a label Thug, Tyrique didn’t understand why the world is calling him Thug instead of taking his name.

Read the entire story yourself to know what Tyrique will do. This is the first book written by the author. The storyline is nice but heart breaking. I got so sad while reading about whatever happened to Quincy. Losing a child is such a tragic thing for parents.

The illustrations are eye catchy and are according to the story. The story is representing a black family and their hardships. I recommend this to kids.

Rating: 4.5/5

Butterflies and Demons is a book written by the author Eva Maria Chapman. It is a story that will give you both pain and hope. The story is set in different timelines ranging from 1830 to 1950s and is told from different viewpoints.

The story is historical and has connection to author’s life. It is the story of Adelaide Aborigines who suffered a lot due to British Empire. Adelaide story interweaved with Kaurna story will be a delightful read for everyone. The story is written in the form of conversation and I enjoyed it.

Kaurna glossary given at the start of the book was helpful. Characters cast has been penned down in a list giving a feeling of movie cast.

I am glad that I have read this book as one can always learn a lot from someone else’s experience. The story narration is clear and the cover page is amazing. I would recommend it to my fellow readers definitely.
