Interview with author Natasha Butler

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

Hello, my name is Natasha Butler. Founder of Natty Gyal Productions, a company that independently publishes books through Amazon.com. Ugly Alter Egos – Part I, is the first of a three-part series that touches on the lives of four African-American characters navigating life’s day-to-day challenges at a fictitious HBCU in Tennessee.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing your book ‘Ugly Alter Egos – Awakening Inner Me to my Enemies’?

My inaugural release, Ugly Alter Egos – Part I, has four main characters instead of one. It was challenging to write seamlessly from four main points of view (two males and two females) while ensuring each character was developed optimally. My goal was for everyone reading this book to identify with at least one character in the story line.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Toni Morrison is a huge inspiration to me! Her Netflix documentary, “The Pieces I Am,” really captures powerful views of her as an author, editor and business woman. She has always promoted staying true to yourself and your original voice when writing.

Q4. Whatโ€™s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

I love visiting Key West, FL! It is beautifulโ€ฆ There is so much to do and never enough time to do it all.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you dive in and start writing a book?

For me, I take time to sort out my feelings, goals and objectives on what I am trying to convey with messaging in a book. It is important to develop your characters in your mind and heart first and honor them without placing your own personal filters on how they would respond to certain situations. Write without judgment when it comes to your characters but also use them to convey strong messages within the overarching story.

Q6. How long did it take you to write your book ‘Ugly Alter Egos – Awakening Inner Me to my Enemies’?

A lot of the content in this first release, which is Part I of a trilogy, is inspired by my own personal challenges I’ve overcome. Some humorous, some inspiring and some painful. There were an overwhelming amount of emotions I had to sort through to get this story on paper and develop my characters accordingly. Because of this, it took me over 10 years to finish the text because I kept putting it down, not wanting to sort through certain things related to my feelings concerning events that inspired the book. But all timing is perfect and I’m glad the first part is now released!

Q7. On what platforms can readers buy your book ?

The audiobook is available on Audible. Hard copies can be purchased on Amazon.com. Autographed books can be purchased at http://www.nattygyalproductions.com

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Ugly Alter Egos – Awakening Inner Me to my Enemies’?

I wanted to develop something meaningful. The art resembles a yin-yang symbol indicating even though the characters are polar opposites, there’s still similarities between them on each end of the spectrum. They all come together to form one complete circle.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Within this book you get to experience the story through four main points of view so that you can decide right and wrong and what resonates with you for yourself. It’s not always as black and white as it seems ๐Ÿ™‚

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that arenโ€™t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

The characters Jada and Vicky are loosely based upon my personality in college versus becoming a full-fledged working adult. One is anxious and one can be callous at times, but it is merely a defense mechanism. Writing this story allowed me to see how much I’ve grown from both and that I am still a work in progress. Thank you for this opportunity!

New Year is near and it’s time to reflect on the past year and think about the changes you may want to make in your personal or professional life.

I got my hands on the book “Courage to Change in love, work and life” at the right time. This book is written in two parts: “Are you Stuck?” and “Breaking Free”. The author has discussed the work, life and love ruts that keep us stuck. This book helps us to identify where we are trapped, break free from it and start living life differently.

Jane has covered various topics like “How to spot a dead-end relationship”, “How the past holds you back”, etc. I could relate well when Jane mentioned “You derive your sense of importance from being needed by others.” I could mostly relate myself and my experiences with the content of this book. I have learned many things from it. It’s time to change myself and be a stronger person.

The writing style of the author is nice. I really appreciate the information Jane has shared in this book. The title of the book is appropriate. It is an insightful read. Those who love reading self-help books should get their hands on this one. I am interested in reading more books by Jane.

Taming Flame written by the author Therisa Peimer is a Sci-fi romance novel. Flaminius Theodore wasn’t ready to get married. But to be the king, he has to get married. Mother Guardian was after him to get married soon but she doesn’t want a low-breed on the throne.

Aurelia Stafford is the daughter of Rosalind and Sylas. One day Lady Key informed Aurelia that the identity of her match is Flaminius Theodore Alexander Esca, heir to the Arkhnuetian throne. When Aurelia was asked to go with Mother Guardian, she refused. Flaminius then came to see Aurelia. The moment they saw each other, they were attracted to each other. They agreed to get married.

It was interesting to read Flaminius and Aurelia making efforts for each other. I loved it when he called her mother to find out her favorite foods. Read this story to find out what will happen after their wedding and honeymoon. Will they be able to save the entire Arkhnuetian planet?

I appreciate the vivid imagination of the author in creating the fantasy world. The writing style is amazing. The storyline is interesting and I wasn’t bored anytime while reading it. I loved the characters of Flaminius and Aurelia. Those who love reading Sci-fi and romance novels should go ahead with this one. You would be delighted to read it.

Dad in a Cheer Bow is an interesting memoir penned by the author Patrick Riccards. In this book, the author has shared about his experience of coaching a team of tween girls.

Patrick and his wife Jennifer wanted their children to be consistent with something. When they moved from Connecticut to New Jersey, they noticed their daughter Anna’s serious interest in cheerleading. One day, Anna asked if her daddy could be her coach. Even though Patrick didn’t have any idea about cheerleading at that time, he agreed to coach his daughter and the other girls.

From cheerleading, Patrick learnt many things. His relationship with his daughter reached another level and they created so many beautiful memories together.

Get your hands on this book. I enjoyed every bit of this book. The story is written well and Patrick has done fabulous work in this book. After reading this book, I am inspired to be consistent with something. Those who love reading memoirs would be delighted to read this one. It’s a unique story.

The Happy Valley is the debut book of the author Benjamin Harnett. In this story, an unnamed narrator sets out on a journey to find his ex-lover June who has disappeared.

In the first part Farm, the narrator recalls meeting June in junior high when June’s family relocated to the farm from Ohio. The narrator and his friends created a role-playing game. June agreed to join but she has some secret plans.

Clyde Duane, school janitor, has a mysterious golden key. Soon, June disappears and the investigation begins. Read this story to find out who is behind June’s disappearance.

The storyline is intriguing. The title of the book is suitable. The language used in the book is lucid and I was able to follow the story easily. The pace is fine and I enjoyed every bit of this story. Go for it without any second thoughts.

A healthy eating plate topic is my favorite part of the book. It made me aware about what I should include in my plate.

One could read one chapter at a time. The author has advised us to stay positive for nurturing resilience.

Through this book, the author is reminding readers to breathe. It’s a thought provoking book. I am glad to get my hands on this book. By reading this book readers will get to know themselves better. Go for it without any second thoughts.

Interview with author Arthia Nixon

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

Hello I’m Arthia Nixon and I’m the author of several books in adult, romance, children’s and business genres. I’m a journalist/publicist and mom to an actress. Writing has always been a big part of my life since I was a child. My parents still have stories I wrote at age 4 and 5 and essays and writing awards or newspaper clippings from my childhood. I’m talking boxes of them.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing your book ‘The Bishop’s Beard’?

Whew! The biggest challenge was not to directly name names and to ensure I didn’t identify precise incidents. Because this book was ministry based and I came from a background that had mysic and ministry, alot of people were wondering who it was about. Some people still guessed and I will never say if they guessed correctly. Yes, the book draws from some real incidents and people and when I said I was writing it, the person laughed and said it was perfect. People who know me know that my novels tend to have some real life experiences. I simply never confirm who, what, where, when or why. But I’ve had some people I didn’t even know read my novels who wondered. But it’s all fiction.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

My parents had the task of raising a creative and weird child as their oldest and didnt know wgat to do with me. Writing was my escape from their arguments and other things. However, there were always books and I was told I began reading at age 3. My grandmother Florence Mingo was the reader. She had me on most weekends and I was very advanced in reading and I used to read her Danielle Steele and Harlequin books. She was the first person who would let me read her my own writing books. I remember sitting through a hurricane with her just listening to the wind and writing while she read. My aunt Velma Petty, who is a pastor’s wife and minister of the church I grew up in mostly also ensured I read when I was with her on Sunday. She gave me my first diary to write in and we left it at her house because my mother was the type to just assume I was writing real things. Even at school, I got into trouble for writing instead of taking notes. I didn’t have a favorite genre and had everything from The Babysitters Club to Anne of Green Gables to Stephen King and my grandmother’s Alice in Wonderland and Arabian Nights. My writing today is influenced by my observations, real life and just imagination.

Q4. Whatโ€™s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

I am originally from Eleuthera, an island in the Bahamas I am fiercely protective of. Our house is on the beach so that is my most favorite spot in the world. I also love an area along the gulf coast of Florida, and South Carolina. I just sneak off for waterviews and pull out my Tiffany pen that was gifted to me and write by hand.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you dive in and start writing a book?

Not really. I’ve written books in 3 days or a week. I just sometimes see the whole thing in my dreams and write it out, the outline, characters and more and it comes together.

Q6. How long did it take you to write your book ‘The Bishop’s Beard’?

One week. I thought about it and emailed the idea to myself but never had time to write it. I ended up in the hospital due to my illness and wrote it during my rest and recover time.

Q7. On what platforms can readers buy your book ?

Amazon, Payhip.com, ArthiaNixon.com and multiple bookstores and libraries. Google search it. However my mailing list is best for new releases and behind the scenes.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘The Bishop’s Beard’?

I thought the title was very self explanatory but apparently it wasn’t for people who did not know the term. I explained it inside the book. I knew how I wanted my characters to look and when it becomes a film, I already see some things. But the cover l, I put in my graphic designer’s hands and she did a great job.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I’ve been told I have a signature style for plot twists. I don’t intend to keep things fresh. I just tell the story and think I don’t want to make this obvious and let ne think of something I wouldn’t expect of thus character. And it worked. You can’t be afraid to let characters go and you have to learn to end a series or stand alone.

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that arenโ€™t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

There are so many secrets! There is the secret as to why Lavinia and her sons never got along and why appearances in church are so important. There’s the secret as to why Judah and Dereka get along so great as a couple and why they fight so hard to not ruin things even though they both have secrets. There’s the secret as to why Shay the goddaughter is so protected and why the father, Bishop Darold was ready to pass along the church to his sons. Church hurt is real. Music ministry has drama. And there is an Alphonso in every church hidden or in plain sight.

๐Ÿš€ ๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฐ:
Group Survival Guide penned by the author Darren Weber is a great book that teaches defensive tactics like marksmanship, high speed driving, etc. We often consider survival and disaster the same terms but the author has explained the difference between the two.

Preserving, protecting, conserving, reusing and repurposing are the key principles that one should apply in a survival or a disaster situation. In a disaster situation, one may not have access to a modern-day doctor, so basic health knowledge like treating wounds, treating an infection could save your life or someone else’s life.

I am glad to get my hands on this book. It’s very well written by the author. It’s a unique read. I would suggest to keep this book on your desk and revise the information mentioned in it until it’s fixed in your mind. It’s one of the best books that I have read this year. Go for it. I am sure you would thank me later for the recommendation.

Interview with author Dani Besnard

Q1. Hello, can you please introduce yourself? Readers would love to know more about you.

My name is Dani Besnard, and Iโ€™m a 23 year old writer, oil painter, animal lover, and an apprentice funeral director and embalmer.

Q2. What were the key challenges you faced while writing ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’ book?

Making sure that I kept writing what I wanted to write, without getting too caught up in what others might think or like. Writing what you want to read isnโ€™t always easy when you plan on sharing it with the world.

Q3. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

Sarah. J. Mass and Jennifer L. Armentrout are huge influencers of mine. I also love any and all fantasy movies and animes. Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and the Last Avatar have always been big influences on my love for the themes in my writing of this series of mine.

Q4. Whatโ€™s your favourite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?

Probably the mountains, so west Alberta and British Columbia. Thereโ€™s something close to magical about the mountains for me. Itโ€™s going to be a huge influence in the later books in this series. I also love the east coast, so Nova Scotia. Iโ€™ve lived there in the past, and the ocean has always been a huge part of my life. It touches my soul. Maybe thatโ€™s why the ocean waters and its mysterious depth were a huge part of Shattered Ice and Fury.

Q5. Is there lots to do before you drive in and start writing a book?

I try and plan out my villain first, that way I can shape the world around it. Itโ€™s a lot easier to customize a character when itโ€™s one that has to be a problem for the villain. The other way around has always seemed harder to me.

Q6. How long did it take you to write ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’ book?

I wrote it in about a year, due to life getting in the way. I took another year to edit and create the final draft.

Q7. On what all platforms readers can find ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’ book to buy?

Amazon. Google Book. Soon it will also be on Barnes and Noble.

Q8. Tell us about the process of coming up with the book cover and the title ‘Shattered Ice And Fury’?

Rage, anger, and anxiety is a theme in my novel, and they are things I have battled with personally. Ice is a more obvious part of the book once you get about a quarter of the way through or so. I would lay in bed and play with these themes in my head to come up with a good title. That one popped up and it simply stuck.

Q9. When writing a book how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I think I would get bored of writing from a single personโ€™s perspective for an entire book. I get bored easily, and adapt much too quickly. Giving myself the perspective of four characters to play with was a lot of fun, and I can only hope my readers enjoy it. I also have a hard time getting into books if they take too long to get going with the plot, which is why the plot goes off from the very beginning. You start off in one setting, and do a 360 by the end of the first chapter!

Q10. Are there any secrets from the book (that arenโ€™t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

Well first of all, itโ€™s only the first book of a series. Itโ€™s not obvious on the cover, so expect more to come! There isnโ€™t much else I can say beyond that without giving too much away from the book.
